Some thoughts on the first 9 weeks...
Hi families!
I wanted to reach out and discuss a few things I have noticed during the first 9 weeks that I am hoping we can work on together.
- Homework - Students are struggling to complete their homework on time and with rigor. The vocabulary homework is very important as it is a helpful tool to use when studying for the quiz. NoRedInk assignments can be completed at any time and on any device that has internet access. I also stay after every Thursday so that students without internet access can have time to complete their work.
- Behaviors - There are some students that are spending their time in class chatting with their friends, drawing, or reading off-topic materials. While it makes me very happy to see students participating in their passion, it is important that they are focused during the 45 minutes I have them in class.
- Retakes - I still have students that are asking to do a retake through their parents. It is very important that students are advocating for themselves. If they are disappointed in a grade, they will be expected to turn in the associated homework and stay after school with me on a Thursday to do a retake. I really want students to be preparing appropriately for assessments the first time they take it.
Thank you all for helping with these items. I hope that this 9 weeks is even better than the last and I can't wait to see what wonderful things your students will accomplish!
Please see below for a Teacher Review so I can improve on my role as your student's teacher.
