Covid-19 Update: For all the information we have regarding management of Covid-19 in schools please refer to our "Covid Corner.” This SHS webpage, which will be updated regularly, contains the most recent government protocols and flow charts, our SHS Covid-19 case reporting information, and any additional resources we can offer.
Please note that Rapid Test kits have not yet been received from the government for Grade 7-11 students. A new box of masks will be sent home with your son next week.
Parent-Student-Teacher Interviews January 27 & 28: BOOKING IS OPEN. Appointments can be made using pickAtime, our online booking software. The instructions for booking appointments are attached.
Please note that interviews are not mandatory and you have the option to contact a teacher to arrange a phone call or alternate meeting time if that is preferable. Also, as pickAtime spaces are limited, you may wish to wait until the Term 1 reports are emailed to you (target date Tuesday Jan 25) and then arrange appointments accordingly. Students are expected to attend Zoom interviews with their parents on Jan 27 and 28.
Mr. Lajoie is available to meet with families on January 27 & 28. If there’s a matter you’d like to discuss via Zoom on that date, please contact Ms. Beech to arrange a time. Mr. Lajoie is available via phone or email, as usual, outside of the Parent-Student-Teacher interview dates.
Introducing…Intensives! After a two-year hiatus (due to Covid-19 restrictions) we are excited to offer intensive courses again this spring to our Middle School students. These four day courses - developed and led by Middle School teachers and staff - will replace regular academic classes on April 11-14. Students will be introduced to these courses next week at assembly and be given the opportunity to choose their preferred options. Please click here to check out the MS Intensive course options. We encourage you to discuss them at home so your son is ready to sign up next week!
Black History Month - Sharing Our Cultural Roots: The prefects are organizing programming for Black History Month in February, and they invite anyone with ideas or suggestions to please reach out to them. The theme for this year is ‘Getting to the Roots,’ and students hope to plan events that help us uncover some of the connections between black cultural traditions and modern trends. As part of this event, the prefects would like to feature profiles about our black students and staff so we can learn more about them and their families. If your child identifies as black and is willing to participate, please fill out this Google Form. The mini-biographies will be put up as posters around the school.
Congratulations to MS Math-letes, Nathan Chen and Ziye Zhou! Check out this SHS news story for all the details about their achievements at recent math competitions. We're so proud of you both!
