Here is your November North Star News!
Thank you for joining us for the October FAN!
We want to give a huge shout out to all of the parents, students, staff and alumni who volunteered or donated items to make our first Family Activity Night in almost three years a resounding success! It was wonderful to see all the smiling North Star faces and so many families in our building. The library and special education teams are incredibly appreciative.

Thanks for hanging in there while we transition to paid meal programs.
If you want to deposit lunch money with a credit card through your PowerSchool parent portal,
please remember that you will need to access the online version.
You can find that link on the www.KIBSD.org website, under the FAMILIES tab.
KIBSD does not support the PowerSchool App, so you won't be able to pay fees that way.
Even though some student info is viewable on the app,
it does not connect to our PowerSchool lunch or activity fee accounts.
We are also always happy to accept cash or checks for student lunch accounts in the office.
Call us @907-486-7500 if you have questions or need any help with parent portal access.
READY TO VOLUNTEER?
Email volunteer@kibsd.org to get started.
Please see the volunteer sign-up process listed in the flyers below.
We look forward to having you help out around the school.
A Note from the Nurse
Dear families,
It’s that time of year… lots of yucky germs going around! If you or your family are interested, Flu shots and COVID shots are available at Public Health, KANA, KCHC, Safeway, and Walmart.
Call the NS nurse's office @907-485-7501 if you have questions about these vaccinations or would like more info!

Road Safety Notes
The dark school mornings have returned!
Drivers - we have several students that walk to and from school.
Please keep an eye out and make sure you are observing all crosswalks and speed limits.
We have had many concerned neighbors report cars going at
high speeds coming and going from our parking lot and driving down Lilly Rd.
Thank you for keeping our students safe!
North Star Hazard Bus Route - DELAYED
Please let us know if your home is within the North Star boundary and your student normally walks
to school or doesn't have bus service through out the year because you live in close proximity to the school building. Due to winter road conditions and the challenging driveways in
our neighborhood your student may be eligible for the Hazard Bus Route.
First Student Bus Service usually starts the hazed bus route on November 1st.
They do not have the staffing to do so right now.
We would still like to be prepared just in case they are able to get the route going.
Please call Natalie @486-7499 to get on the route list or if you have any questions.

⭐ NAVIGATOR FINE ART HIGHLIGHT⭐
Mrs. Lickfield's second grade class painted textured leaves in all the glorious fall colors.
The contrast of the black background creates a moody feel that is quite typical of a Kodiak autumn.
