Weekly Bulletin
for Jan. 16-22, 2023
Good evening -- it's been another great week to be a spartan!
Hope the first full week of our spring semester treated everyone alright. I saw a lot of great stuff in all of our buildings this week, so be sure to read "What's going on in class?" a bit further down to hear about that. It will also be a full week of athletics and activities!
Coming up . . .
- We will be publicly recognizing our highest achievers and growers from our Winter MAP testing at halftime of the girls basketball game in Litchfield on 1/20. See attachment below for details. (tickets will be sent home to families of students on the lists.)
- There is NOT preschool this Friday, 1/20.
- Speech season is beginning with our first tournament on Saturday 1/21 in Broken Bow. The speech team has an impressive twelve students going out.
- On special days in February, parents will be invited to join their elementary kids at lunch. Pre-K and K parents are invited on 2/7, 1st and 2nd are on 2/14, 3rd and 4th are on 2/21, and 5th and 6th are on 2/28. More information will follow.
- There is JH basketball on Monday 1/16 in Ansley. On Tuesday 1/17 in Pleasanton, JH plays again, in addition to Girls JV and Varsity.
- Girls and Boys basketball also play South Loup on Thursday 1/19 in Arnold and Overton on Friday 1/20 in Litchfield.
- On Friday 1/20, boys wrestling is in Callaway and girls wrestling is in Lexington.
- See the Spartan Bulletin below for more information about athletic events.
What's going on in class?
If you only ever hear "nothing" when you ask what your kids did at school, here are some more specific questions to try about this week:
- ask kindergarteners and 1st/2nd graders about their virtual field trip about Martin Luther King.
- ask kindergarteners about the nice thing they each decided to commit to doing following their virtual field trip.
- ask 3rd and 4th graders about starting to play recorders in music!
- ask high school anatomy students about the very real cow organs they were able to examine.
- ask high school students in physics and anatomy about the static electricity experiments they did
- ask juniors in world history about the very hands-on lesson about trench warfare
- ask elementary students in 1st-6th grades about the clay throwing and sculpting demo they got in art.
