Message from Principal Haugens
Tomorrow, May 6, 2022, is a student attendance day. It was a non-student attendance day on the original draft of the school calendar. The Bloomingdale Board of Education changed tomorrow to a student attendance day earlier this year. We look forward to seeing students at school tomorrow for a normal day of student attendance.
A big thank you to all parents and our amazing PTO for the show of appreciation this week during Teacher Appreciation Week. The staff have been enjoying all the nice gifts and treats throughout the week. A huge thank you to the PTO for bringing out the "Red Carpet" on Monday and providing "Breakfast with the Teachers" to all DuJardin staff and students.
This past Tuesday we invited 22 incoming kindergarten students and parents to a Kindergarten Visitation. The students enjoyed spending time with our current kindergarten students while parents learned more about DuJardin in a meeting with the building principal.
Spring MAP testing begins next week for all students. The testing window is Monday, May 9th - Wednesday, May 18th. MAP results will be shared with parents the last day of school on Tuesday, June 7th. Please reach out to the classroom teacher for exact testing days and times. Please do your best to have student in attendance on testing dates. This will help reduce the number of make-up tests that will need to be administered the following week.
Last week all grade levels administered the Connection Card Survey to students in kindergarten - fifth grade. The Connection Card survey contained three questions:
1. Do you feel like you belong?
2. Do you have a trusted adult in the building?
3. Do you have at least one friend?
Below are the Fall & Spring results from the Connection Card survey. Staff will review results from the survey and collaborate on ways to help all students feel a sense of belonging as we close out the 2021-2022 school year.

Message from Nurse Mills
For the second week in a row, we have noticed an increase in absences due to illness. We had over 10 individuals test positive for Covid. We continue to ask families to keep students home if they are not feeling well or sick. This will help ensure we do not spread illnesses to other students. With the reduction in social distancing, we have been identifying more students as close contacts. The district has updated information related to close contacts. If someone is identified as a close contact the individual will be allowed to stay at school as he or she does not develop symptoms.
Covid-Positive: Anyone who tests positive for Covid must quarantine for 5 days and wear a mask upon return to school between days 6-10.
Close Contacts: If someone is identified as a close contact the student will be allowed to stay at school as long as they do not develop symptoms.

Field Day T-Shirts
Field Day T-Shirts will be coming home with K-3 & 5th students over the next few weeks! They will be inside of a plastic bag with a bright pink note attached to the outside of the bag. These shirts were handmade by the students, and are to be worn on Field Day which is Friday, June 3rd. Please do not allow your student to wear their Field Day T-Shirt prior to Field Day. The shirts are brand new and clean, however if you would like to wash your child's shirt prior to Field Day, please follow the instructions included with your child's shirt. It is not recommended to place any Field Day shirts into the dryer.
