Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells

Week of December 14-18

"Christmas at the O.K. Corral"

It's happening this week! The 2nd and 3rd grade students are presenting a musical called Christmas at the O.K. Corral. The performance will be held on Wednesday, December 16 at 2:45 PM in the Middle School Auditorium. Mr. Vetter would like students to dress for the part of townsfolk in an old western town (jeans, flannel, western dresses, cowboy hats, cowboy boots, etc.). If you don't have any of those things, don't worry. They will still present a terrific show. Hope you can make it!

Classroom Party and Mug Exchange

Our classroom party is scheduled for Thursday, December 17 beginning at 2:30 PM. I am asking each student to bring in one winter/holiday ceramic mug stuffed with small treats and wrapped in some type of plastic wrap. The students will exchange mugs with one of their classmates. The mug (including all items inside) should cost no more than $5 to $7, and it should be able to be given to a boy or a girl. Please send the mugs into school by Tuesday.

We will drink hot chocolate from our new mugs and eat cookies and/or donuts while enjoying a holiday movie and "Read In". If you are willing to send in hot cocoa mix, cookies, or donuts, please let me know. We only have 4 families that have indicated they will donate cookies, donuts, and cocoa. Let me know if you can help. All mugs should be turned in by December 15. Please contact me if you have questions.

Reading and Writing

This week we are taking a break from the basal and focusing on informational reading for Social Studies. There are no spelling words this week as we focus on revising sentences and expanding them with details. In math, we are continuing learning about strategies to solve unknown multiplication facts. An excellent stocking stuffer this year could be a pack of multiplication flash cards! Students should fluently recall multiplication facts by the time they leave third grade.
