Book Orders
Your child will be bringing home November/December catalogs today. If you would like to purchase books, orders will be due next Friday. If you would like some/all of your order to be a gift in the month of December, just let me know and I won't give them to your child when them come in. Instead, I'll let you know and you can pick them up at a "secret" time. :) Winter Break is a great time to catch up on some reading! Our class code is: GT8L9
Union Express
The Union Express postal service is up and running! Be sure to check your child's backpack for more information as an informational sheet came home.
Food Drive
Next week, our school will be participating in a food drive. This is a beautiful time to teach the lifeskill of giving. The boxes will be by the cafe, so the students can drop off their goods in the mornings.
Movie Night
Information about the PTO movie night came home last Friday. It was on a red sheet of paper with the link to sign up. Movie night will take place next Friday, November 17.
Chaucie's Place
Zionsville Community Schools are partnering again this year with Chaucie’s Place, a child advocacy organization in Hamilton County, to bring Smart Steps: A Body Safety Program for Children™ to our Kindergarten, 2, and 4th grade students. Smart Steps is a child sexual abuse prevention and education program that empowers your child to say “NO!” to any unwanted touches that make them uncomfortable from anyone.
Representatives from Chaucie's Place will be meeting with kindergarten, second and fourth grade classrooms on Monday, December 4th. Notices with opt-out information will go home TODAY to be returned by Friday, December 1st. If you have specific questions, please contact School Counselor Lori Karnuta at lkarnuta@zcs.k12.in.us or visit: www.chauciesplace.org.
Veterans Day
We value the commitments you make each day in your homes as well as in our larger community. On November 13, 2017, we look forward to celebrating and honoring our Veterans. We know there are many Union families whose lives have been personally shaped by one of the branches of our Armed Forces. It is our desire to plan experiences that are meaningful for our students while simultaneously appreciative of the brave men and women that have served or are currently serving our country. If you or a member of your family have served our country in this capacity, we would like to include you in our celebration.
Union Elementary will be honoring our community’s Veterans with an all-school convocation at 9:15 on Monday, November 13, 2017. If you would like more information or are interested in participating, please follow the directions on the Google Doc below:
