ZOOM CONFERENCES UPDATES
As our Distance Learning timeline has extended, we have worked hard to accommodate and meet the needs of all our learners. This week we started regularly scheduled Zoom conferences with Middle School, and next week we will be rolling out a consistent Zoom schedule for Elementary (Prek-4th grade). Zoom conferences may look different depending on the grade and subject. The UPDATED Zoom Conference schedules for both Elementary (PreK-4th) and Middle School (5-8) is attached below. Additionally, these schedules will be uploaded in Seesaw. Please note the following points:
1. The new Zoom Conference schedules will begin MONDAY (April 6).
2. Students are NOT required to attend scheduled Zoom conferences--although they are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to do so. Not attending will not be counted against a student, as we are very aware that everyone has a different schedule right now. However, if it is at all possible to attend, we ask that students do so. Our Zoom conferences allow the teachers to touch base with classes as well as instruct new material as needed.
3. For grades K-4th, we are scheduling ONE 30-minute Zoom conference per week for Math and ELA. If a parent or student needs more instructional time or instructional time in a different content area, they are asked to EMAIL the teacher to set up an individualized Zoom. Individualized Zooms CANNOT be daily and will be set-up according to the teacher's schedule and parent's schedule. We ask for parental understanding for our staff concerning individual conferences. Our teachers are working with a myriad of classes in addition to any homeschooling they also have to do, other meetings they have, etc. We have to balance everyone's schedule and time while meeting the needs of our classes. Any new material in Math and ELA will be addressed in scheduled Zoom conferences. New material in other areas will be "taught" using videos, etc.
4. ZOOM CONFERENCE ETIQUETTE/Code of Conduct will be added to the SCHOOL HANDBOOK this weekend. This etiquette will reflect the guidelines and regulations as outlined in our last Falcon Flyer. Any new or additional policies will be emailed to the parents ASAP. As a new school policy, students and parents are asked to adhere to the guidelines so that all Zoom conferences can be safe and professional. Please review these guidelines so that our teachers can maintain a safe, professional, ethical learning room even from a distance. We ask parents to please monitor your scholar so that he/she is adhering to the guidelines.
5. Starting Monday, there will be two teachers/staff members in each Zoom conference. This is a mandate from CSO in order to properly ensure safety in each room. The monitor will be there to simply monitor for hackers and/or compliance with our Zoom Room Code of Conduct.
Tuition Update
On Wednesday, we put out a Falcon Flyer with a letter from our Superintendent, Debra Haney, regarding continued Distance Learning until May 4th. With that letter we addressed a series of Q & A's regarding tuition, school work, etc. Attached you will find a new letter from Ms. Haney regarding tuition and continued enrollment with our Catholic Schools. Please read this word from our Superintendent.
In this time of great need, we would ask that all families who need help to continue to reach out to Mrs. Lopez. We would also ask that families needing and asking for help be prepared to provide official documentation of some sort. This might be a furlough letter, an unemployment stub, etc. As a school and business, we have to have official documentation on our end regarding any tuition assistance we provide. This enables us to document each case, and HOPEFULLY, receive some sort of grant or aid for the tuition losses we might face. Getting this aid is essential for continuation of our staff payroll and benefits, as well as the campus bills. We are more than willing to help families in need; please just contact Mrs. Lopez, but please help us in return by providing that essential documentation. Thank you.
Spiritual Guidance: The Right Focus
Psalm 90:14 "Satisfy us......with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days."
Often times, if we focus more on our feeling rather than our gratitude, we miss the best part of what life has to offer. If we have an attitude of gratitude, it can part the clouds and let the sun shine through.
What is your focus today? Regardless of your feelings.....harnessing a feeling of gratitude for Jesus and his gift of Eternal life can put all other things into perspective. Who you are tomorrow is often determined by your choices and attitude today.....work today to create an attitude of gratitude.
