Superintendent's Message
Good Afternoon,
A Week of Appreciation
This week is designated as National Teacher Appreciation Week and National School Nurses Week. I take this opportunity to express appreciation to all of you--- our faculty and staff -- for the incredible work that you do everyday. Our schools are amazing places for learning and it’s due to the commitment and passion that you hold for students and their education. Thank you!
School Safety Training
Tomorrow, Friday, May 10, you might notice public safety vehicles parked in the Jordan/ Jackson School lots. Fire, Police, and other Town departments and agencies, will be participating in training with some of our school administrators. This is part of our ongoing development in the area of school safety and should not be disruptive to the school community at all. The trainers, who are Mass Maritime Academy students and professors, will provide us with scenarios that we are tasked to problem solve. This exercise is referred to as “table top training” because we remain in one or two rooms; in this case, at Jordan/Jackson, we will occupy the multipurpose and conference rooms. I thank our MPD and MFD for collaborating with us on this school safety training.
Town Meeting
Mansfield held its spring Town Meeting this past Tuesday and I’m so pleased to inform you that the Town of Mansfield unanimously approved our school’s budget of $51,634,994.00 for FY20. Additionally, the approval of Capital Improvement projects totalling $627,756.00 will allow us to continue to keep pace with our facilities and technology growth. I am confident that this funding will allow us to continue to provide the high level of education that this district has consistently achieved.
One final comment, one of my favorite parts of the spring Town Meeting is when I announce the names of the faculty and staff members who have, or who will, retire during the current school year. This year we have 20 “retirees”. When I said that these individuals have served a combined 561 years and that they are leaving our schools better for having impacted the lives of students in Mansfield, there was thunderous applause for all of them...and I believe for all of you.
Sincerely,
Teresa Murphy
Superintendent
