The First Part Last

Book review

In my life I would recommend this book to book to a person who is having a hard time in life. Like someone who has found out about something that they think is tragic and there life can not go on such as teen pregnancy or someone close to you having health problems of even someone dealing with a death in their family. This book really shows that there can be “a light at the end of the tunnel.” In the book ”The First Part Last” Bobby thought that he could never take care of a child in his state of mind. He had plans for his own life that didn’t include a baby. He also would have never imagined that he would have been taking care of Feather alone because of Nia’s Health condition. I really like how Bobby felt that he needed to have Feather in his life because that is all he would have left of Nia. Even though it was very hard for him in the beginning and even got into some trouble he made it through and ended up living where he always wanted to live. By his brother and his kids in Heaven, Ohio. This really shows how much a person can change for the one thing that they love so much. That is why I would recommend it to someone having a hard time in life because it shows that things will change for the good and the bad and it all works out in the end.

I would also recommend this to a person who doesn’t realise how fast things change in life. Bobby was living the average 15 year olds life in high school, getting into some trouble and anything else you would expect from a 15 year old boy. Then all of a sudden on his 16th birthday he found out that he was going to be a dad. This is one example of how fast things can change. Another example is when Nia got sick before she had Feather. Bobby was not prepared to be a dad at all. Everyone planned on giving the baby up for adoption but, when Bobby found out that Feather is all he would have left of Nia he would become a man up and be a dad no matter what it would take. Things change really fast in life and you may not notice it until something you love is gone. People who do not realize how much something means to them until it is gone. This book helped me learn how to deal with hard times and to take life one day at a time. It also helped me appreciate things more when they are good because you never know when it will be gone. It also helps me realize that when something bad happens there is almost always some good that comes from it. In that case I would tell anyone to read this who feel like they are not getting enough out of life and need to realize things that are shown in this book.

The book cover really shows how much Bobby loves Feather by him just holding her and looking her with love in his eyes. You can also tell that he is scared to be a father but he will do anything for Feather.

The second picture is a picture of Heaven, Ohio where Bobby and Feather went to live at the end of the book. This is important because Bobby and Feather finally found the place that they want to be and where Feather is going to grow up. At the end of the book Bobby says "I don't know what will come next in this place called Heaven." Bobby is excited to start a new life with Feather there.

“If the world were really right, humans would live life backward and do the first part last. They'd be all knowing in the beginning and innocent in the end.." Page 4

This quote really makes you think more through out the book. it was very smart of the author to put this at the beginning to make the reader think a lot more while they are reading.

"And then I know I am being a man, not some kid who's upset and wants his way." Page 125

This is a very important quote in this book because it tells you what Bobby was thinking when he decided that he was going to keep Feather. The author keeps the reader wondering how he ended up taking care of Feather alone throughout the whole book and this is where it explains why at the end of it.

"There Goes My Life" By Kenny Chesney

This music video relates to the video because at the beginning when the high school boy found out that he was going to be a father he was scared and thought that his life was ruined. When the little girl got older he considers the little girl his "life" and loves her and couldn't imagine life without her. This is almost exactly how the book goes with Bobby being scared to be a father but, then ends loving Feather and would never give her up.
