A Note from the Principal
Tomorrow marks the end of the first semester! It's hard to believe that half the school year is over, but the second half of the year is filled with so many activities we look forward to each year. Report cards will be made available online next Thursday.
In a little over a week, we will kick off Catholic Schools Week 2023 with Mass on Sunday, January 29 at 10:30 a.m. Following Mass, join us for our Open House. The theme from last year continues: "Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service." Our Open House is for current families as well as prospective families, so please invite a family member or friend who might be interested in our school. Catholic Schools Week (CSW) is a busy but exciting week for our students, faculty/staff, and families. It is an opportunity for our school as well as Catholic schools across the country to celebrate our students, our families, and our school. Be sure to check out the CSW Calendar of Events. We are thankful that you value Catholic education!
Also, don't forget to complete registration/enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year! Those who complete online registration and submit the registration fee by Tuesday, January 24 will be entered into a drawing for $100 in Schoolbelles gift certificates! If you are considering enrollment for your child in our preschool, it is imperative that you submit registration as soon as possible. Our preschool fills very quickly, and next Thursday registration will open to families outside of our school.
Peace and blessings,
Diane Raguz, Principal
MAP Testing Dates-January 17 - February 3
At home, you can help to prepare your child by ensuring that he/she gets plenty of sleep each night and eats a nutritious breakfast each morning. Encourage your child to do his or her best on each test. The goal is for the testing to provide a detailed picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn--whether it is on, above, or below grade level--and to plan instruction accordingly.
Green Knight of the Second Quarter
Danny Majernik is a third-grade student at Saint Paschal Baylon who is our Green Knight for the second quarter! Teachers were quick to share that Danny was the perfect choice as our Green Knight. He was nominated by Mrs. Longano. She shared that Danny always leads by example. In the classroom and outside the classroom, he is a shining star. He seems to cover the 4 C's of character, compassion, civility, and courage by the way he treats his classmates and teachers. Miss Catalano continued, “Danny sets an incredible example for his classmates in the classroom. Danny participates daily and shows his classmates what it looks like to be ready to move on. Danny is kind-hearted, passionate, and witty. Danny's bright smile lights up any room he walks into. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of the title of Green Knight of the Quarter!” Mrs. Klepcyk shared that Danny leads by example and is a true role model to his fellow classmates.
Danny’s family consists of his mom, dad, his sister Kylie, and his brothers Connor and Andrew. He also has a dog named Otis and a bird named Rocky. The Majernik family enjoys spending time together going sled riding or playing board games like Ticket to Ride. In his spare time, Danny likes to play all kinds of sports like baseball and football. He also enjoys reading books, especially military dog books. Danny shares that his favorite subject is math because he really likes his teacher and gym because he loves sports. In the near future, Danny would like to attend NDCL for high school because his older siblings went there, and in the distant future, he would like to be a police officer just like his dad.
When asked what makes him a Green Knight, Mr. Majernik shared that Danny is very cheerful, listens well, and has a unique sense of humor. Danny’s mom said that Danny helps with the laundry, helps to train his dog, and makes everyone in the family laugh. Danny’s sister Kylie shared that Danny is always positive, very funny, and loves to read.
Friendly, thoughtful, and kind were words repeatedly used to describe Danny. Mrs. Yanick summed it up by saying, “It was a pleasure to have him in first grade! He always had a smile on his face and still does. I can always count on Danny. He is such a great friend to everyone around him. Danny has such a big heart and it truly shows!” Ms. Raguz shared, “It is quite impressive to be a third grader and to be selected as a Green Knight. In just a few short years at SPB, Danny has certainly made an impression on his teachers and administrators. Danny is such a positive light in our school.” Congratulations, Danny, on this well-deserved honor!
Enroll Me FAQs
Thank you for beginning the process of registration for the 2023-2024 school year by using EnrollMe through Gradelink. Here are some frequently asked questions we have received with their corresponding answers:
Q: I don't believe I have a log in for Gradelink; how can I get one?
A: Email or call the school office and we will email it to you.
Q: Where can I find the "Re-enroll" tab?
A: Once you log into Gradelink, the "Re-enroll" tab appears along the left side. If it does not appear, be sure you are logged in under your parent account rather than the student account. Also, you must use a desktop or laptop device to complete the process; the mobile app will not allow re-enrollment.
Q: Once clicking on "Submit," are parents able to access the information to edit or to print documents?
A: If you believe you made an error, please email the school office and we will review the submitted information and make changes for you. Printing of documents is not an option in the system for parents at this time.
Q: Is my child's (grades 1-8) enrollment complete once I click on "Submit?"
A: Enrollment is not considered complete until the $225 registration fee is received by the office.
Q: Is my kindergartener's enrollment complete once I click on "Submit?"
A: The enrollment process is complete once you submit the $225 registration fee; however, all incoming kindergarteners must go through kindergarten screening before final acceptance.
Q: Is my preschooler's enrollment complete once I click on "Submit?"
A: The application process is complete once you submit the registration fee for the particular program in which you are interested; however, your enrollment is not complete until you receive an official acceptance (a hard copy) from the school office.
Q: Can I send one registration check for my preschooler and my K-8 students?
A: Please send one check for all students in K-8, and a separate check for preschool. You may submit them in the same envelope, but put the student name/s on each check.
Q: What if I change my mind about my tuition payment plan after submitting my enrollment?
A: Please email the school office and we will make changes for you.
Q: I have a new student to enroll at SPB; how do I add them?
A: Existing families that have children already in the school can add other children not currently enrolled. Because they are enrolling a new student, they will need to create a temporary registration account for registering the new student as the information for the new student is not yet in Gradelink. This is the same process that prospective families go through when enrolling their children. Keep in mind that the login credentials used to log into their Parent Portal will not work here.
Parents will log-in to their Parent Portal using their Gradelink login username and password.
They will then click the Re-Enroll tab on the left sidebar.
They will click the Have a new student to enroll? link at the top right of the page.
They will then follow the steps outlined in Enrolling a New Student.

Catholic Schools Week 2023
Celebrating our Nation
We will be Celebrating our Nation during Catholic Schools Week on Thursday, February 2. One way we would like to do this is by honoring our active military members during morning prayer.
Please send us the names of friends or family members who are currently serving our country in the United States Armed Forces so that we can honor them. These names will be read during morning announcements, and a prayer will be said in their honor.
Names can be sent to Mrs. Klepcyk at sklepcyk@saintpaschal.com by Monday, February 1.
Thank you!

Playground Volunteers Needed-Kindergarten to Grade 4
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:10 am-12:55 pm. There are many, many time slots open! We are so grateful for the help!
Grade 4 families are asked to volunteer in January, Grade 3 in February, Grade 2 in March, Grade 1 in April, Kindergarten and anyone who would like to help in May/June.
