Richmond Hill Athletics News-September 2022
Message from the Athletic Director
Wildcat Nation,
The year has started off fast and the month of August has come to an end. With that brought a great start to academics, as students and teachers settled in, and we can't thank our teachers enough for their relentless pursuit to better each and every one of our students here at RHHS...THANK YOU!
Tradition and Innovation
Tradition is something that will live much longer than coaches, athletes, and athletic directors. Traditions are what bring groups together, a common theme, a common logo, and a common purpose. The RH on hats, uniforms, and vehicle windows are a tradition that Richmond Hill knows far too well. The alma mater and fight songs are forever in our hearts, and our student athletes going to the lower schools, on Friday morning, is a tradition like no other! To say the least, we have some great traditions here in Richmond Hill!
What does innovation in 2022 and beyond look like? As we all know, technology opens the door for many innovative ideas. Planning, organizing, and communicating have all been streamlined with technology. The Bryan County BOE supported an "outside the box" idea for an older space here on campus. We put down artificial turf in an entire gym giving us over 10,000 square feet of training and player development space for not only athletes, for for all students. For a year now, our athletic department has been using GPS devices on our athletes. These devices track many data points that allow coaches to analyze them and build practice off of the data. Effort and Conditioning are no longer a guess for our coaches. The GPS devices show top speeds which our coaches use to monitor athlete recovery. Also, the GPS devices tell us the “Load” it takes for a player to play the game. Coaches use the game “Load” to tailor practice so that athletes are not only in shape but also not overworked. The use of GPS devices has become a vital part of our preparation as an athletic department. While this is just one way that we are innovating, the future is limitless in this area, and the future is bright. Our goal is to add Virtual Reality simulation for baseball and softball, route running sensors for flag football, technology software for golf, Vertimax training for all athletes, and much more. Stay tuned and watch us grow!
Keeping the rich traditions that make The Hill such a special place, while innovating as an athletic department is the key, and we are proud to achieve both. We love sharing our vision with all of you and hope to see you at a field, park, or gym very soon!
Go Wildcats!
