Did You Know?

There are new programs available to our RAM student body.

Construction Trades:

We are partnering with Construction in Colorado and our Northeast BOCES to provide curriculum through Construction in Colorado. Initial funding for this program is being provided by the Co-Action Grant through Northeast BOCES and Careers in Construction Colorado. With the hard work of Mrs. Molli Dreitz, the Construction Trades program also received a grant from the Nathan Yip Foundation for tools and a trailer. We are very excited about the hands-on and real world opportunity this program provides to our students. Mr. Ryan Dreitz was hired this summer to lead this program and we are very fortunate to have him. The program has an initial enrollment of 27 students and has already been working on chicken coops and small utility sheds. Along with the real world experience, students will also be receiving industry certifications in welding, OSHA 10, construction, electrical, HVAC, and PACT Core. The goal is to provide our students with portable skills from our school district that directly benefit them when applying for jobs or furthering their educational endeavors.

Student Lead Wellness Class:

This class is a direct result of the work done by our School Culture Committee formed during the 2021-22 school year, centered around improving the culture and climate of our district. The students enrolled in this class, led by Mrs. Kilee Randel, will be advised by our School Culture Committee. The class has already begun work with 7 Mindsets, RAMS expectations, and involving the entire K-12 student population in their activities. The purpose tasked with Student Lead Wellness Class is to form a student body that is civic minded, socially aware of not only self but aware of how their actions affect others, and develop a visible pride in our school as future RAMS graduates. We are in the initial stages of this endeavor and are very excited where our student leaders will take our RAMS.

AKRON THIRD GRADERS LEAVE THEIR MARK

Glosson Construction invited our third grade students down to the athletic complex to put their hand print and initials in some newly poured concrete. The students had a great time, learned a little bit about concrete, and received some words of wisdom from Rick Glosson.
Thank you Glosson Construction for your support of our students and school!

Akron School District Hosts CASB Region 1 Meeting

The Akron School District was the site of this year's CASB Region 1 meeting on Monday, August 22nd. School board members from across Northeast Colorado were in attendance. The evening started with student-led tours of the school building and then board members worked with the CASB staff around the topic of Portraits of Success, which is the theme for CASB this year. School boards were tasked with communicating their school's successes and how they are including a student voice in their work. Board members in attendance also shared feedback about how CASB could better serve school boards. The evening concluded with the presentation of McGuffey awards.

FILLA RECEIVES MCGUFFY AWARD

Akron School Board President, Jessica Filla, was honored with a Colorado Association of School Boards McGuffy Award at Monday night's CASB Region 1 meeting held in Akron. This award honors board members who bring committed and passionate service to their board work. Jessica fits this definition perfectly, as she has always gone above and beyond as a board member. She has served on the school board for the past eight years and has provided a steady and supportive leadership style in her service to the district. Her servant style of leadership can also be found out in the community, through her numerous volunteer activities. Please join us in congratulating Jessica Filla on this well deserved award.

Volleyball Hosts First Home Game of the Year

Akron hosted Briggsdale in our first home volleyball game of the season. JV brought home the win and Varsity lost in three. Keep working blue!

We are excited to have the Pom squad back with a bigger team to help support our teams and show us their talents.
