ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT - Week of January 8, 2023
HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS
BOYS AND GIRLS INDOOR TRACK
The Boys Winter Track team travels to Toms River this Saturday for the Group 4 State Relays and to Staten Island Monday Night for an invitational meet at the Ocean Breeze facility with over 30 teams attending.
SWIMMING
The Boys’ and Girls’ swim teams hosted a talented Mainland team on Tuesday. The girls fell short 84-86, and are now 2-1. Winning for EHT were 200 Medley Relay of Katie Carlos, Denise Yushan, Kayla Nguyen, and Rhylee Cornell, Kayla Nguyen (100 Fly), Katie Carlos (100 Free), Denise Yushan (500 Free), and Rylee Cornell (100 Breaststroke).
The boys defeated Mainland 107-63. Winning for the Eagles were the 200 Medley Relay (Charles Schreiner, Charlie Seivard, Alex Smilevski, and Will Nguyen), Schreiner (200 Free), Dylan DeWitt (200 IM), Leo Smilevski (500 Free and 100 Free), 200 Free Relay (Michael Wojciechowicz, Max Smilevski, DeWitt, and Leo Smilevski), and the 400 Free Relay (Schreiner, Wojciechowicz, DeWitt, and Leo Smilevski).
Both teams host Vineland today.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Boys’ Varsity basketball defeated Middle Twp 41-37 and improved to 8-1 on the season. Jay-Nelly Reyes led the team with 12 points followed by Jamil Wilkins with 10. Keion Elliot had 9 rebounds, Wilkins had 7, and DJ Germann had 6. They then fell to St. Joseph’s Academy on Wednesday. Germann led with 19 points and 4 assists, followed by Christian Rando with 14 points and 3 steals. They are now 7-3 and will look to bounce back Holy Spirit tonight.
GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL

EHT Lost to Haddon Heights 35-46. Averie Harding led EHT with 10 points. Ava Kraybill and Lyla Brown scored 9 and 8 points respectively. Scoring was rounded out with Lindsay Dodd contributing 4 points, Katie Keenan 2 points, and Alina Gonzalez 2 points.

EHT defeated ACIT 51-30. After a slow start EHT outscored ACIT 39-17 in the second half. EHT had 8 girls score in the game with Averie Harding and Ava Kraybill leading the way with 15 points a piece.

EHT lost a close game to Atlantic City 43-44. Averie Harding scored 18 points and Ava Kraybill 15.

EHT 36 @ Millville 10
EHT traveled to Millville on Tuesday for the first game after winter break and came together for a nice team win. Samantha Battersby, Mariah Newman, and Skyer Wood combined for 34 of the Eagle's points. Player of the Game: Samantha Battersby

EHT 37 vs Hammonton 7
EHT hosted the Blue Devils on Thursday and controlled the game from the tipoff. All players contributed defensively and were able to adjust and play different positions throughout the game. Mariah Newman had an explosive first half with 17 points. Reese Weiss was able to mix it up and take over at a guard position late in the game to close out the game. EHT 39 vs Haddon Heights 36 (DOUBLE OT)
The Eagles won in a double overtime thriller last Saturday when they beat the Garnets 39-36. Mariah Newman scored a game high 17 points, including 4 three pointers in the first half. Skyler Wood chipped in 15. The entire team contributed defensively and showed poise down the stretch. Player of the Game: Skyler Wood

EHT 52 @ AC 32
After playing the best first half of basketball thus far this season, the team cruised to another victory Wednesday afternoon. Mariah Newman scored a season high 24 points and Skyler Wood contributed 16. Kayden Senior and Cecelia Feldstein grabbed some key rebounds late in the game against a very aggressive AC team to secure the win. Player of the Game: Cecelia Feldstein
WRESTLING
The Wrestling team lost to a tough Rancocas Valley team on 1/12. 51-21- Winning for EHT were Tyler Thomas (Dec. 10-5), Vincent Faldetta (Dec. 5-3), Nick Faldetta (pin 3:17), Calvin Johnson (Dec. 5-1), and Aiden Speratore (pin 4:11). The team is now 3-8 and travels to Washington Twp today, then hosts Absegami tomorrow.

ALDER GIRLS BASKETBALL
On Monday this week the Alder girls basketball team won their second game of the regular season by beating Ventnor 24 to 7. Kaitlyn Wiggins scored 8 points, Gianna Galego scored 6 points, Kiara Davis, Lily Bertino, Kaylee Beck and Sophia Levy each scored 2 points and Payton Crowell and Marissa Baxter each scored 1 point.
The girls basketball team won another close game against Absecon yesterday . Even after trailing 12-2 in the first quarter, the team kept fighting and came back to win the game 26 to 24! Marissa Baxter led the team with 8 points, Madison Stickel had 6 points, Payton Crowell and Kaitlyn Wiggins each had 4 points and Gianna Galego and Kiara Davis each scored 2 points.
ALDER BOYS BASKETBALL
Alder Boys’ basketball defeated Ventnor on Monday 30-22, but fell to Absecon yesterday 24-36. Their next game is Tuesday against Fernwood at the HS.
