MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT
Big Red Community,
Last week, one of our district communication team members had the opportunity to attend Career Day at High Point Elementary. To demonstrate some of her day-to-day work, she invited students to help her create a video about what they’ve learned so far in fourth grade.
It was an engaging experience with a fun outcome. I hope you enjoy watching it!
With the first half of the school year about to wrap, it’s a good time to stop and reflect on what we’ve all learned so far this year. So take a moment to ask your students what they have learned this year and what excites them about the coming semester. Share your thoughts with your students.
I’m happy with the progress we’ve made toward district goals — like ensuring exceptional learning experiences for each and every student, engaging all stakeholders, supporting a World-Class team of employees, developing a district-wide culture of value, and maximizing our resources. Important work has been made toward the projects funded through the 2022 Bond.
Yet we recognize there’s much work to be done when we return in January. I invite you to partner with us on the journey to empower each and every learner to pursue their dreams and enrich their communities.
I hope you and your family have a restful and memorable holiday season. Enjoy the break!
Best,
Matt Smith, Ed.D.
Superintendent

On the Horizon: Attendance Boundary Changes
District leaders are currently working on possible changes to attendance boundaries based on parameters the Board of Trustee approved this week. They’ll be seeking community input in late January on specific boundary options and a transition plan. Watch for more details soon! Administrators plan to bring a final recommendation to the board in February, with new boundaries not taking effect until August 2023 at the earliest.
