Welcome September

Wishing you a Happy Month of September

The breezes taste

Of apple peel.

The air is full

Of smells to feel-

Ripe fruit, old footballs,

Burning brush,

New books, erasers,

Chalk, and such.

The bee, his hive,

Well-honeyed hum,

And Mother cuts

Like plates washed clean

With suds, the days

Are polished with

A morning haze.

-John Updike (1932-2009)

Most all of us have had or have great relationships with our grandparents. There are hundreds of stories to tell regarding them. There may be the memories of sleepovers at their house with next morning cartoons. They may have taught you how to tie your shoes or make a breakfast treat. Some taught us how to line a fishing rod and catch a few fish. You may remember the time they slipped a few dollars just because you were their grandchild. Grandparents love you unconditionally. They have been proud of you since the day you were born. You’re truly blessed to have them in your life. So, with Grandparents Day approaching this month, what can you do to honor them? Get creative and think of things to celebrate the ones who have likely been instrumental in who you’ve become.

• Visit them. Stop by and say hello as often as possible. If you have children, let them spend time around Grandma and Grandpa, just to hear their stories.

• Take them groceries when you can. If you’re shopping, buy them a few items you know they’ll use. You never know if they always have money for special things they enjoy, but by taking them a surprise occasionally, you’ll know they’ll have an additional treat during your visit.

• Call them often. A simple hello is a blessing and shows you care.

• Ask if they need a ride anywhere. Grandparents usually have many places they’d like to go and they enjoy the pleasure of your company.

• Hug and kiss them every chance you get. This is the most important thing you can do to show them your affection. Never pass a chance to say: “I love you.”

Grandparents are a gift to be cherished. Learn from them and let them know you love them every chance you get.

Hoping this finds everyone doing well, in every way. Many have stated that they are well in body but feel a bit rumpled up in spirit. On the surface coping quite well, adjusting, finding an equilibrium even as the world shifts around us by the day. Life is far from smooth. Activities, events that had been so easy, now require thought, planning and wondering if it needs to be done. While life is feeling more normal both because we are adjusting to the new reality, and because some things really have returned, albeit different. I suspect we are all wondering how much of this is permanent and how much once there is a vaccine, will revert to "the way it was". Being said before this is a "teachable moment". Teaching us about ourselves, our relationships and about what the pandemic has uncovered, mostly regarding the amazing things we are capable of.

As I watched my son venture out for his first day back at school, I was reminded of how much he still depends on us for many different things. Not just putting food on the table and a roof overhead but the willingness to change and adapt. Always being on call. Providing protection from the outside world. Wanting and waiting to hear about what's happening in his life. Being his biggest cheerleader. As we watched as a family the lift off of Perseverance headed to Mars and then the return of two astronauts in the SpaceX Dragon return back to earth, I was reminded just how important it is to support Jaiden's interests and dreams.

As Jaiden left with uncertainty of what lies ahead .... his excitement at the first day of school with his mask in hand and new backpack waiting to reconnect with friends as he reminds me (social distancing) brought a smile to my face. He was a reminder that everything will be okay.

With Love,

Did you know that in the United States, the first Sunday after the first Monday in September is celebrated as National Grandparents’ Day.

Labor Day is celebrated Monday September 7th.

Shakespeare did not mention September in any of his plays.

The last day of September in any year always falls on a different day of the week from the last day of any other month.

The full Moon for September 2020 is the Full Corn Moon! This year, start looking for September’s full Corn Moon just after sunset on Monday, September 1, as it rises high and reaches its peak illumination at 1:23 A.M. Eastern Time on Tuesday, September 2. The September Moon is called the Corn Moon because it traditionally corresponded with the time of harvesting corn in what is now the northeastern United States.

The September birth flower are the aster and morning glory.

The September birthstone is sapphire – this birthstone comes in a rainbow of other colors.

Virgo and Libra are the zodiac signs of September.

Every September, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) devotes the entire month to educating Americans on the reality of recovering from substance abuse and mental disorders. September is thus known as “National Recovery Month.”

The month of September creates calmer energies. The three cards pulled are for the 30 days. The first card being the first ten days, the second card being the next ten days, and the last card being the remaining ten days. (Cards are from "Fearie Tarot by Nathalie Hertz)

1st Card: Six of Cups

This pensive fairy gazing wistfully at the flower in her cup represents nostalgia and uncertainties. She would like to find a way to go back and revisit her past, since there is something missing in her present life. The flowers rising from the other cups indicate that we should enjoy the present and not look back. It is time to find a new course. The card also refers to the simple pleasures in life. Divinatory meaning: Wistfulness, nostalgia, childhood memories. Confusion, anxiety, attachment to old habits. A harmonious home environment.

2nd Card: Ace of Swords:

The sword planted in the ground is the emblem of victory and conquest. The sword defies time, the winds and spirits. The bearer will be able to conclude any project. The sun illuminating its pommel reflects its energy, strength, and power. The snow rabbit posted at its side is a vigilant guard. Divinatory meaning: Reached goals, resolution, strength, dynamism, initiatives, courage, intelligence, and success.

Clarity of judgment. Fruitfulness, passion, excess.

3rd Card: Page of Pentacles:

Divinatory meaning: Application, thinking, studies, the desire to learn, new ideas. Reliable colleague, an honest worker, intellectual work, earning of money.

Questions and Counsel

Dear Katelyn,

What’s it like when you talk to spirit? Does it make you feel tired? Is it scary? Like I guess just overall?

Curious George

Hi Curious George,

Great questions. So great of a question I am not even sure how to fully explain it. I’ll first start off by saying that communicating is not scary for me anymore since I became use to it. I experience paranormal activity on a daily basis. It can be exhausting. It’s kind of like running. The first time you run you are going to feel exhaustion rather quickly, but the more you do it the easier it becomes. However, even after you run a marathon you are still guaranteed to experience fatigue. I use to be able to do a few readings a day, now I can read up to 5+ hours before the fatigue sets in. When I conduct group healings the exhaustion sets in fairly quickly because there are so many people I’m clearly at once. My main communication is through feelings, but I still can hear, and see for communication. My dreams are usually prophetic as well. Halloween is halloween because the veil between our two worlds is thin. My own person veil is just simply thin. Every day is literally Halloween for me.

Spiritual Practices

The heart chakra is the fourth of the seven main chakras. It is especially significant

because it is in the middle, it unites the upper and lower chakras. Blockage can manifest as loneliness, lack of emotional fulfillment and difficulty accepting or giving love, lack of compassion; or as unhealthy relationships, "loving too much," love manifesting at a low vibration, or a lack of sense of connection to the divine or to nature; unresolved sorrow; problems with heart or lungs. A person with a balanced heart chakra has self- love and love for others, shows forgiveness, compassion, vulnerability, trust and empathy for others. It is the center of unconditional love. It functions physically and emotionally to keep the life force alive. When the heart chakra is blocked, you may face health issues such as breathing difficulties, high blood pressure, lung diseases, breast cancer, heart attack, pneumonia and bronchitis. A strong heart can forgive the wounds of the past and find joy in the moment. You love unconditionally and know that to love is to live.

Affirmations- I am love. Love is at the center of my life. I love myself unconditionally, I forgive others and I forgive myself. Crystals- rose quartz, diamond, jade, green calcite, peridot and Archangel Raphael corresponds to the heart chakra. He brings us God’s healing love and shows us the herbs and medicines that we can use to bring balance and healing to our heart. To heal the heal chakra show gratitude for everything that you have, practice empathy by not jumping to conclusions and using judgements. Remember that other people’s actions are about them, practice forgiveness, set clear boundaries and practice self-love, develop a meditation practice, learn yoga or have a reiki session.

Blessed be!

Angels are kind; working in mysterious ways when they are called upon to help guide us, protect us, and much more. However, many times they are misunderstood. To further understand the way angels work, let’s relate them to humans and our ways of life.

The same way that you would kindly address a friend to ask for their help, angels very much appreciate when we call upon them kindly and respectfully. Angels are known to avoid and ignore hostile, aggressive, and anxious atmospheres. To make sure that you are in a peaceful and safe state of mind when calling on an angel, immerse yourself into a deep and peaceful meditation, envisioning your Anahata (heart chakra) as an open and inviting place filled only with love. Imagine yourself as an astral being. Turn your heart into a place that you would be happy to enter as an angel. Avoid treating angels as servants. It is disrespectful and they will be offended by this sort of treatment.

When your heart is prepared and you are ready to receive and accept an angel, call upon the angel you are seeking assistance from out loud. Speak kindly and genuinely to the angel and feel comfortable with the thought of them entering into your energy space. Demands are ignored by angels, so when seeking assistance from an angel, ask politely and do not expect results immediately. Listen carefully for the angel to speak to you. Sometimes messages are communicated much more quickly, or much slower than we communicate as humans.

Just the same as humans, each angel has a different job, a different specialty. Asking a mechanic to perform surgery would not be very useful. Knowing which angel to call upon for a certain task is important.

Envision the result that you seek from the angel you have called upon, and be detailed with what you want, but do not become attached to the outcome. Have patience and accept that sometimes the result you seek will take days, months, or even years. In rare cases you will receive immediate results; however, more often than not you will notice gradual progress over an extended time period.

Harnessing Moon Power

The Moon is a beautiful mystery, it has captivated the attention of everyone at some point. The Moon is an ancient symbol, it has shaped how we track and understand time, it rises every day bringing in the night, it controls the tides and is believed to affect our energetic fields. It represents strong powerful feminine energy. The Moon signifies wisdom, illusion, intuition and spiritual connection. The Moon cycle connect with birth, death and reincarnation, like the cycle of a seed: it grows up into a flower, it blooms and then it dies.

We are all capable of attuning with the Moons energies and activating our inner power. The lunar cycle is made up of different stages.

Becoming knowledgeable about the Moons energies is the first step along this path and learning how these powerful energies can be harnessed within your life. We can use knowledge about the Moon’s cycle to reflect inwards at ourselves and our own needs. Each of the lunar states mirror a different aspect of a spiritual path which is ongoing with multiple repeats and ongoing learning.

Each of the Moon Cycles looks different, it has its own unique shape and can easily be spotted. Each of these cycles carries with it its own spiritual meaning and this can be used to help us flow with the ever-changing energies. The Moon takes approx. 28 days to orbit the Earth and this is how we see a full cycle roughly every Month. Let’s learn about the Moon phases and how we can harness this power and grow spiritually.

New Moon

– This phase signifies new beginnings –

At this time the Moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun, so it is not seen from Earth. When the Moon is invisible it signals a strong power that everything is being cleared.

During this time, you should spend a moment breathing, stepping back refreshing and restarting. This is a time to start new projects and phases within your life. It is a great time to gather your thoughts together and plan for the month ahead.

Waxing Crescent Moon

– This phase signifies new intentions –

The ‘Waxing’ means the Moons illumination is glowing and the ‘Crescent’ means less than half of the Moon is illuminated.

During this time, you should focus on the why, think of it like planting seeds. Why are you doing what you are doing and what intentions are going to get you there? Write a list of your intentions and keep them in mind. What things do you want to accomplish or get done?

First Quarter Moon

– This phase signifies decision making –

This is when exactly half of the Moon is illuminated and the other half is left shadowed. The Moon will appear as though it has been cut into half – this signifies that action is ready to be taken.

During this phase spend extra time making decisions, spend the time to sit back a reflect on any decisions you have made in life, what did they mean to you and what did you learn from them. Use your previous decision making to help you overcome any obstacles in future decision making.

Waxing Gibbous Moon

– This phase signifies refinement –

The ‘Waxing; means that the Moons illumination is growing and the ‘Gibbous’ means that more than half of the Moon is illuminated. This process involves the fine details, when you have set your goals, you are running with them but there is just some tweaking that needs to be done.

During this this time really take care in the detail, be mindful of what you are doing and pay that little bit extra attention to everything that you do. Assess your goals and figure out what is working for you right now and what may need to change.

Full Moon

– This phase signifies release and sealing intentions –

During this time the Sun illuminates the entire moon – this is also known as the harvest moon.

This is a great time to set goals and make any promises to yourself on a soul level, If there are any areas of spiritual growth you wish to develop this is a great time to set these intentions and release any setbacks, negative feelings, blames and guilt you have placed on yourself. This is the time for your journey to face inwards.

Waning Gibbous Moon

– This phase signifies gratitude –

This stage is the counterpart to the waxing moon. Rather than refining our outward actions this is a time to reflect inwards about how we feel.

The ‘Waning’ refers to the decreasing of the Moon’s illumination and ‘Gibbous’ means more than half of the Moon is illuminated.

This is the time to reflect on what has been happening and focus on gratitude. Make a list of all the things you are grateful for.

Third Quarter Moon

– This phase signifies forgiveness –

This is when the moon is exactly half illuminated and the other half is left shadowed. This is the opposite of the First Quarter Moon.

During this time forgive yourself of everything – forgive your mistakes, bad habits and any unfortunate mishaps. Forgiveness allows us to move on and approach every situation from a place of love. Use this time to forgive others and forgive yourself.

Waning Crescent Moon

– This phase signifies forgiveness surrender –

The ‘Waning’ refers to the shrinking of the Moon’s illumination and the ‘Crescent’ means less than half of the Moon is illuminated.

During this time take extra care to let go, do not try to control the world around you as this will not bring you peace. Spend time being mindful, going with the flow and surrendering to the world around you.

The New Moon

– The cycle begins again –
