Roberts Middle School
Grit: Volume 27
Dear Roberts,
What is that one infamous question you and I have heard throughout our teaching careers? We may have even been guilty of asking it ourselves. The infamous question is, “Will this be on the test?” What does this question really mean? Have you ever broken it down? This question simply translates into compliance. This question is the opposite of being open to failure and learning for growth. This is what I want you to know about Roberts...being a teacher is an endeavor. It takes effort to be the best. If you are ready to pay the price to be a master teacher, there are teachers, coaches and assistant principals here to help you. I can never force anyone to reach mastery. It has to be fueled and fanned by an inner desire of greatness. The question I ask myself often as the leader of this school is, “Can I be trusted with each and every one of your potentials?” You see; I want this school to put you on the right pathway to fulfill your dreams and desire your goals. Please know that you are valued and cared for here at Roberts. If this aligns with your mantra and your personal “why," RMS will always be the home that gives you the tools that are necessary to help students push past their limitations.
As the 4th quarter is approaching, let us pour every ounce of us to push our students to another level. If you need me, my office is open every day. My team and I will be in the classrooms, hallways, and lunch room. We are here to support you. You may have noticed Christine and Rebecca’s emails about discipline support. You may have noticed the instructional coaches' crazy schedules in and out of the classrooms. You may have noticed that our counselors deal with minute problems, so that big problems don't occur. But most importantly, you may have noticed that we have teachers who are the very definition of service, dedication, and persistence. Let our actions speak louder than words!
