High School Highlights
Weekly Updates from Big Walnut High School
March 22, 2019
Spring Break is here! Whether you are traveling somewhere exotic or sticking close to home, we hope some sunshine and at least a little warmth surround you and that you and your family are able to relax and recharge for the 2018-2019 home stretch! When we return, we will have end-of-course state testing, AP testing and many senior events. Please be sure to check your calendar and each week's newsletter for all the important details you need to know.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, school counselor or the administration if you have any questions or concerns. Feel free to contact the main office at 740-965-3766 between the hours of 7:00 and 3:15.

Information for Parents on Snapchat!
Snapchat is a popular social media app that many high school students use. The app, like other social media platforms, allows students to communicate, share stories, pictures etc.
There have been a few disruptions recently at the high school that have one thing in common, snapchat. Click here for a video that is very informative on how snapchat works and the dangers it creates for our students.
Purple Up Big Walnut!
April is the month of the military child. Military children sacrifice a lot when their parents or other family members are overseas serving our country. Throughout our district, we have many students who are also military children. Purple Up Day is our district's military appreciation day to show these students that we appreciate the sacrifice they are making.
This year, we will celebrate Purple Up Day on Friday, April 12. BW Apparel is selling a t-shirt with this year's new design. Orders can be placed until April 3. Please click here to purchase your shirt to wear with pride on April 12.

On Tuesday, our World Language Department held their annual induction ceremony. This year, over 100 students were inducted into these honor societies. Delta Epsilon Phi, the German Honor Society welcomed 10 students, 21 students became members of the French Honor Society, and 69 Spanish students were inducted into the Spanish Honor Society. Spring Testing Dates
Our Ohio State Spring Testing administration is right around the corner. During the testing, BWHS will operate on a two-hour delay schedule for students who are NOT testing. Students who are currently enrolled in a course with an end-of-course exam, as well as those students who are retesting in a specific area will need to report at normal time on the day of the tests. More information will continue to come home as we get closer to the testing dates. If you have any questions, please contact the main office, the school counseling office or the teacher of the specific course. Thank you!
