Thought for the Week
Encouraging and engaging discussion, debate and discourse
Food Bank Nation
After the excess of Christmas and New Year celebrations our country is waking up to the fact that the the use and need for food banks is rapidly on the increase. The Chancellor George Osbourne has explained that we should be prepared for even more cuts to services and provisions in 2014. Is this really the best way for a 21st Century society to be conducted?
The World's first multi-sensory firework display.
We can afford this but we can't afford to pay elderly people enough state pension to prevent them starving or dying from cold related illnesses this Winter.
Food banks
With 3 out of 10 people admitting they cannot afford to feed their families due to low wages and or benefit issues more food banks are opening every day.
Zero Hour Contracts
Many people in employment are suffering under the 'zero hour contract' scandal. These people are employed but have no guarantee of work from one week to the next meaning their finances are unreliable and they can never budget or plan for the future.
How bad will it get?
This week we are asking our students to come up with possible solutions to help our country!
