The Fault In Our Stars

Written by- John Green

Book Description

Hazel Grace Lancaster was diagnosed with stage IV thyroid cancer when she was 13, but was given a life saving drug at the age of 14. Now a 16 year old, Hazel does not go to school and spends most of her time at home with her family. Her mom makes her attend a support group, where kids with cancer talk about their lives. Hazel hates this group, until one day Augustus Waters shows up. Augustus is currently in remission with osteosarcoma, which already took his right leg. Augustus takes an interest in Hazel and they begin to form a very powerful, undeniably loving relationship. They have spent a lot of time together and Gus even made her biggest dream come true, which was going to Amsterdam to meet her all-time favorite author Peter Van Houten who turned out to be a total disappointment. Hazel and Augustus cared so much about each other and if something tragic were to happen... the world would be turned upside down.

My Opinions

The Fault In Our Stars was personally one of the best stories I've ever read. As soon as I picked up the book and started reading, I couldn't stop. Definitely a page turner! I found this fiction piece of work by John Green to be a huge success. After finishing the novel, I learned how important our lives are and how we should live everyday like its our last. In the past, I have had relatives and close friends die from cancer. What these people go through everyday makes them so much stronger even at their weakest moments and I saw this in the Fault In Our Stars in many ways. Hazel had cancer and she knew she was dying but she still pushed on for the sake of Augustus and her parents. Augustus had lost a leg from cancer but he didn't give up and when things got tough, Hazel was there. Isaac, a good friend of theirs, was going blind so he made the best out of the little time he had left to be able to see even after losing his girlfriend who dumped him because of his illness. Anyways, if you are looking for a good book to read, I strongly recommend this novel.
