TIGER TALES
October 2020
A Message from Our Principal
Hello Taft Families!
We can't believe it already the end of 1st quarter. This was one for the history book for sure. I am so proud of our students, staff, and families for our grace, grit, and strength during this challenging quarter. Taft is Tiger Strong. I am thankful for our great students, wonderful teacher, and support community.
Provided we continue on the trajectory of meeting the metrics with the Health Department, we are planning to return to a 5 day school week for our modified in-person students on October 12th. Please watch for the announcement from Mesa Public schools when it is official.
Our full-time remote students will continue with their remote teacher.
Have a fun and enjoyable break!
Kim Corbett
Principal

Free and Reduced Lunch
Even though school meals are free right now, get ahead of the rush
and get your application submitted for the spring semester!
The 2020-2021 Free and Reduced Meal Applications are available now for all families who qualify based on income and family size. The confidential application forms are available at your school’s office, cafeteria, at the Food and Nutrition Department (143 S. Alma School Road,) or can be completed online here. The forms take just 3 minutes to complete and submit.
Did you know? The meal program not only provides healthy food to our students, but it also brings additional federal funding to our district and schools. Your child’s school uses this funding for additional instructional assistants to help in classrooms, to hire instructional interventionists, and to purchase supplies, software, for all students. In addition, Mesa Public Schools uses this funding to provide summer school, preschools, teacher training, and AVID Program training and supplies, to Title I Schools.
It is a simple process that has a huge impact,
so please don’t forget to complete the short Free and Reduced Meal Program form today.Follow Us on Facebook

Annual Title I Meeting Presentation
Dear Taft Families,
Please take a moment to look at our Annual Title I Presentation. It provides information on what Title I is and how it helps us here at Taft. At the end, there is a short survey for feedback that we would greatly appreciate you filling out!
