Applicant must be a graduating senior whose plans include attending a college or university in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science Degree in an accredited Nursing Program.

Scholarships are $1,500 per semester toward tuition for a maximum of eight (8) consecutive undergraduate fall and spring semesters ($12,000 total). Universities may adjust the amount of the Scholarship based upon other received scholarships, awards, or grants. Receipt of university and other tuition scholarships, awards, or grants is considered primary and will be applied toward tuition first and the Scholarship applied secondary.
ELIGIBILITY
Any senior from the participating Indiana high schools in Lake, Newton, Porter, and Jasper Counties who satisfies the following criteria is eligible to apply for a Jim and Betty Dye Scholarship. Applicants that do not meet the minimum eligibility will not be considered.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must live and currently attend high school in Lake, Newton, Porter, or Jasper County, Indiana
- Must have a minimum composite 1200 SAT or 25 ACT (tests may be super-scored).
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 (out of 4).
- Must be admitted unconditionally as an undergraduate degree-seeking student to one of the following universities:
- Indiana University Bloomington (IU)
- Indiana University Northwest (IUN)
- Purdue University West Lafayette (PU)
- Purdue University Northwest (PNW)
- Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)
- Ball State University Muncie (BSU)
*Please note: Recipients of full tuition scholarships such as Lilly, 21st Century, ROTC, Hammond College-Bound, etc. are ineligible to receive a Dye Scholarship.

Supporting documentation consisting of an official high school transcript and the university admission acceptance must be included with the application.
DEADLINE
The 2020 Jim and Betty Dye Scholarship Application will be available January 1, 2020 through March 1, 2020. Eligible candidates must electronically submit the Scholarship application no later than 11:59 p.m. CT on March 1, 2020.
Career Scholarship
$1,000 awarded annually with an option to renew for three consecutive years if eligibility requirements are met and a transcript is submitted
ELIGIBILITY
Public high school seniors who are dependents of current ISTA members. Criteria for selection includes academic achievement, leadership in co-curricular activities and community involvement and submission of an essay and recommendations. ISTA Foundation Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY
Public high school seniors who are dependents of current ISTA members. This scholarship is open to graduates of a public high school in December or May/June of the year of application who had at least a C average, plan to participate in a formal accredited training program (apprenticeship, trade school, cosmetology, etc.) or attend a two- to four-year accredited college or university and are the children or grandchildren (stepchildren and step grandchildren qualify) of an ISTA member. The applicant does not need to have attended high school in the same district in which the ISTA member teaches, nor live with the ISTA member.

DEADLINE
ISTA Foundation contributes to the scholarships that are awarded locally. Nominations should be submitted from February - April 1 to the local president or UniServ Director. In April, the District Councils select recipients.
Educator Scholarship
$1,000 awarded annually with an option to renew for three consecutive years.
ELIGIBILITY
This scholarship is open to public high school seniors actively pursuing a degree in education who are dependents of ISTA members. Criteria for selection includes academic achievement, leadership in co-curricular activities and community involvement and submission of an essay and recommendations. A seven-semester transcript is required to complete application process.

Justine M. Harrell Memorial Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship awarded for a total of four years if the student maintains a 3.0 GPA enrolled in an education curriculum at an accredited college or university in Indiana.
ELIGIBILITY
This scholarship is open to a public high school senior pursuing a degree in education. Applicants for the need-based scholarship must also meet the income criteria of at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty line.

Damon P. Moore Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship awarded annually with an option to renew for three consecutive years.
ELIGIBILITY
This scholarship is open to a minority public high school senior who plans to pursue a teaching certificate. The scholarship was named for Damon P. Moore, an African-American educator, who served three terms as ISTA president and continues to be a positive role model for young minorities aspiring to enter the education field. Criteria for selection includes academic achievement, leadership in co-curricular activities and community involvement and submission of an essay and recommendations. A seven-semester transcript is required to complete application process.

Louis B. Russel Scholarship
$1,000 awarded annually with an option to renew for one consecutive year.
ELIGIBILITY
This scholarship is open to a minority public high school senior who plans to pursue industrial arts, vocational education or technical preparation at an accredited post-secondary institution. This scholarship was named for Louis Russell, an African-American industrial arts educator, who acquired international recognition as the world’s longest-living heart transplant patient. Criteria for selection includes academic achievement, leadership in co-curricular activities and community involvement and submission of an essay and recommendations. Partners for Clean Air Scholarship
Partners for Clean Air will offer one or more scholarship award(s) in the amount of $2,500 to help with post-secondary education expenses. The scholarship(s) will be awarded in May, with the financial distribution occurring in August before the start of classes. This scholarship will be a one-time award.
ELIGIBILITY
To be considered for a Partners for Clean Air Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a senior at a high school in Lake, Porter or LaPorte counties, Indiana;
- Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA;
- Be attending an Indiana accredited college, university or trade school in the Fall of 2020; and
- Be pursuing a two-year or four-year college degree or two-year trade school certification or degree. Any applicant will be considered provided that the applicant demonstrates how his or her planned field of study supports the goals of Partners for Clean Air. Preference may be given to individuals pursuing a course of study in the environmental sciences.
To be considered, applicants must meet the criteria identified above, with preference be given to students who have:
- Engaged in community service;
- Participated in environmental programs or clubs; and
- Demonstrated a sincere interest in improving air quality, as supported by the responses to the questions in Part III of the application.

The Valparaiso Family YMCA Foundation Scholarship
Four scholarships each $1,500
ELIGIBILTY
- Applicant must be a resident of Porter County and be a US Citizen.

This scholarship will be awarded to an individual who is pursuing a career in a specialized field that will NOT require a four-year degree based upon the following criteria:

Two $2,000 Scholarships awarded to Indiana high school seniors

Central Indiana American Society of Safety Professionals Scholarship
Three $1,000 scholarships. Any high school senior in Indiana with a 2.8 GPA or higher who will be furthering their education in Indiana, with an emphasis on occupational safety, is eligible to apply.
ELIGIBILITY
- Must currently be a senior in an Indiana High School. Preference will be given to those in the Central Indiana ASSP Chapter’s geographical area.
- Must have a GPA of at least a 2.8 on a 4.0 scale and submit a copy of their official high school course transcript and grades through the first 3.5 years.
- Must enroll in an Indiana College, University or other training/trade school and declare a major or minor in Safety.
- Applicant must provide two (2) letters of reference: one from a teacher from their high school and one from a current or previous employer, youth group leader or other adult in a leadership position.
- Applicant must include a brief description of their career plans and how those plans relate to occupational safety.
- Winning applicant must join a student chapter of ASSP or the Central Indiana ASSP Chapter.

Valparaiso Women's Association Scholarship Application
Two $500 scholarships awarded to seniors in any Porter County High School
ELIGIBILITY
The Valparaiso Woman’s Club was organized in 1895 and has been supporting women in this community since it began. The Club is offering 2 $500 scholarships this year for seniors in any Porter County high school.
APPLICATION

- Include a resume of work experience. List dates of employment and job duties.

The ESA winner and winners from each participating state will be entered into an overall national award, where winners will be considered to win an additional $7,500 to the overall first place winner and $2,500 to the overall second place winner.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be a graduating high school senior who will receive a diploma from an accredited high school. The high school must be located within the state where they apply. All applicants must be between the ages of fifteen and twenty years old. In addition to public and private schools, home schooled students and students attending military are also eligible to apply. Applicants must be accepted for admission to an accredited college or university with plans to attend the following year. Each eligible student must have a father, mother or natural guardian who meets the following qualifications:
- One of the applicant’s parents must be a full-time paid member of the police/sheriff’s department or fire department. They may also be a volunteer member of a fire department.
- The parent or guardian must be an active duty police officer, firefighter, paramedic, or EMT (public sector).
- Children of DHS, FBI, and other Federal employees do not qualify.
- Children of reserve officers, part-time sheriff’s deputies and retired, deceased or disabled employees do not qualify.

Gloria Rector Memorial Scholarship - Chesterton Art Center

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be a graduating senior in the class of 2020 who plans to attend college and major in art or art education.

- A portfolio of your work; include both two and three dimensional pieces. Two dimensional work should be matted. No more than 3 pieces, please.
- Your sketchbooks or art journals.

The portfolio must be received at the Chesterton Art Center by Wednesday, April 15th. Winner will be notified by April 21. Work can be picked up after April 22.
Polish Heritage Essay Contest - Available for any high school student!
The Polish Heritage Association of Michigan City was established in November 2011 to increase awareness of Polish and Polish-American heritage. The Association organizes the annual Polish Heritage Festival at the Friendship Botanic Gardens (formerly the International Friendship Gardens) in Michigan City, tends the Polish Garden at the Gardens, offers an annual scholarship competition for local high school and college students, and contributes an annual gift to a charity such as a local homeless shelter. In Spring 2018, the Association replaced the Paderewski bust at the Polish Garden in the Friendship Botanic Gardens. The Essay Competition, in its eighth year, is essential to the Association’s community focused mission.
Purpose: The Polish Heritage Association of Michigan City Essay Competition seeks to raise awareness about Poland, Poles and Polish Americans among local high school and college students.
Award: Applicants are eligible for 1st Place ($1,000), 2nd Place ($500), or 3rd Place ($250) awards.
Eligibility: Open to any high school or college student legally residing in Northwest Indiana (Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Starke, St. Joseph Counties). Applicants do not need to be of Polish ancestry.
Application Procedure:
Applicants should submit a research essay of no more than three pages if single-spaced and six pages if double-spaced on the topic of: “The Polish-Soviet War 1919-1920 and the ‘Miracle on the Vistula’” (As World War I ended, Poland won back its independence on the ground and diplomatically.
Poland’s struggle with Soviet Russia proved crucial to Europe as a whole.)
Applicants must supply a complete application form.
Selection Criteria: Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Decisions are made by a committee based on how well the applicant’s essay addresses the topic. Preference will be given to essays that (1) directly address the topic, (2) are well organized, (3) show evidence of some research, (4) are accurate in content, and (5) are clearly written in correct standard English. All applicants will be notified of the selections at the email address they provide with their application.

Porter Starke Services Foundation: Impact Scholarship Award
Selection for this award and amount will be made based on (in order of priority): a well-written Impact essay, extracurricular activities and volunteerism, financial need, letter of recommendation and grade point average.
ELIGIBILITY
This scholarship award is available to graduating seniors of high schools located in Porter, Starke, and Lake (Gary) Counties in Indiana who have been accepted to an accredited college, university or vocational school. Candidates must be pursuing a 2-year or 4-year degree. Exact scholarship amount will be based on scholarship application and criteria. Immediate family members of Porter-Starke Services Board Members, Porter-Starke Services Foundation Board Members and Porter-Starke Services Executive Staff may not apply.

$2,500. If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 award. Up to 15 renewable awards will be granted. Awards will be divided among U. S. Steel locations or groups of locations as defined by U. S. Steel Foundation, Inc. and united States Steel Corporation. The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) Scholarship program addresses the financial needs of college students and provides extensive, hands-on mentoring and support services. Once chosen from a national, selective application process, Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholars receive a generous four-year grant to attend the undergraduate school of their choice and enroll in JRF’s celebrated “42 Strategies for Success Curriculum”. This four-year program guides JRF Scholars to effectively navigate their college environments, explore career options, develop leadership skills, and embrace a commitment to service. The program also promotes the values and character traits embodied in the heroic life of the Foundation’s namesake, encouraging Scholars to positively impact the lives of others.
JRF Scholars receive grants of up to $30,000 over four years to complement the financial aid they receive from their colleges or universities. In addition, Scholars are financially sponsored to attend JRF’s annual four-day “Mentoring and Leadership Conference” in New York City as well as other regional events throughout the year.
To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must:
- Be a graduating high school senior;
- Plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States;
- Show leadership potential;
- Demonstrate a dedication to community service;
- Present evidence of financial need;
- Be a United States citizen;
- Have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21;
- Not possess a degree from a 2 or 4–year College when applying for the scholarship.
The required components of the Jackie Robinson Foundation application are:

Its 20-year journey will take a large group of people from Earth to a new home outside our solar system… The passengers are from 2- to 50-years-old and will have little contact with Earth. They will have access to books and other resources onboard the ship. Many are experts in different fields. Vestigo is equipped with artificial gravity and large areas for growing food. Living quarters are like compact apartments. Everyone onboard will need education and training. They will need to maintain the ship and to prepare for life on a new planet. Most people will need to be skilled in more than one area.

ELIGIBILITY
This scholarship is for young innovators, creators and dreamers (ages 16-24) who want to share his/her/their passion and receive support to pursue this passion through a higher educational outlet. This is not needs or obstacle based; it is a passion-based scholarship program. All applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered eligible for the 2020 Live Más Scholarship Program:
- Applicant is a legal resident of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia (“D.C.”) who is at least 16 years of age and no older than 24 years of age, located in the United States or D.C. If an applicant is a minor in his/her/their state of residence they must receive parental consent from his/her/their parent/legal guardian to apply.
- Applicant must be on-track to apply for or enrolled in an accredited post-high school/post-secondary educational program (including accredited two-and four-year colleges, universities, vocational-technical and trade schools).

In Profiles in Courage, John F. Kennedy recounted the stories of eight U.S. senators who risked their careers to do what was right for the nation. These leaders demonstrated political courage by taking a stand for the public good in spite of pressure by interest groups, their political party, or even their constituents. The Profile in Courage Essay Contest challenges students to write an original and creative essay that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage.
The maximum word count is 1,000 with a minimum of 700, not including citations and bibliography. Use at least five varied sources such as government documents, letters, newspaper articles, books, and/or personal interviews.

Each interested student is invited to write a one-page essay stating why he or she plans a career in government service including any inspiration to be derived from the leadership of George Washington in his famous crossing of the Delaware. The student must confine the essay to viewpoint, attitude and purpose in choice of career. This essay must be accompanied by a recommendation from the high school principal or guidance counselor evaluating the student's achievements, academic and otherwise--particularly any preparation relevant to his or her career choice--along with transcripts, national testing scores, résumé and other supporting information of the applicant's choice as described in the Official Rules. Winners receive an all expenses paid weekend, including transportation and housing, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to attend the Scholarship Awards Ceremony. The Ron Brown Scholarship honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans. RBSP competitively awards Ron Brown Scholars four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each year) to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship – the four pillars of the late Ronald H. Brown’s mission to uplift people of all races, cultures and ethnicities – especially our disadvantaged youth.
Recipients may use the renewable scholarships to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the United States. Ron Brown scholarships are not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline. Since the Program’s inception in 1996, more than 300 students have been designated as Ron Brown Scholars.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholar candidates must:

- be citizens of the United States of America;
- graduate from a high school in the United States during the 2019-20 academic year (applicants living in a U.S. territory or commonwealth or on a U.S. Armed Forces base, as well as homeschooled students, also are eligible.); and
- plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2020-21 academic year.
Semifinalists will be required to provide a recommendation from a community leader, such as a high school principal, elected official or executive director of a nonprofit organization, and must provide documentation to certify academic performance and financial need. Finalists will be interviewed via Skype or telephone by a member of the selection committee.

Urban League Horizon Bank Minority Scholarship Application
Horizon Bank is excited to offer the Minority Scholarship Program. This scholarship is designed to encourage minorities to pursue a higher education while assisting to fund such an endeavor. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be an Indiana resident;
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen;
- Must be a current high school senior or college student in Indiana;
- Must have graduated or will graduate from an Indiana accredited high school or non-accredited nonpublic high school;
- Must be able to utilize the scholarship for at least two full academic years;
- Must rank in the top 20% of high school graduating class or have a top 20% ACT or SAT score;
- Must currently attend or plan to attend an eligible Indiana institution as a full-time student;
- In some cases, degree-seeking students may use the scholarship during the summer while enrolled part-time. Refer to the specific guidelines for using the scholarship during summer terms.
- Must pursue or intend to pursue a course of study that would enable the student to teach at eligible Indiana school after college graduation;
- Must obtain a license to teach in Indiana and serve as a teacher in an eligible Indiana school for five consecutive years after college graduation;
- Must maintain a 3.0/4.0 GPA, complete 30 credit hours per year or their equivalent and meet all other requirements established by their program to renew the scholarship;
- Must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year;
- Must not be in overpayment or default on a federal student loan or grant; and
- Must complete the service requirement or have all funds provided converted to a loan that must be repaid.
**Priority will be given to students graduating high school although current college freshmen and sophomore students are eligible to apply.
HOW TO APPLY
The 2020-2021 application will be available in ScholarTrack beginning September 1, 2019 and will close on November 30, 2019.

- After the interviews, the Commission will notify all finalists of their scholarship status by April 3rd, 2020. Recipients and waitlisted finalists will be provided further instructions via email at that time.
