- 1 booster dose of meningitis vaccine - received on or after their 16th birthday.
- Physical health examanation completed after the students 16th birthday.
Attendance
Attendance: Most research shows that when students attend school on a regular basis, they perform better academically. During the 2017-2018 25% of all high school students were absent from school ten days or more. Under new ESSA Federal laws, chronic absenteeism must be reported and will impact a schools’ local rating. Please make every effort to attend school each day this year. Learn more about the RI Dept. of Education School Accountability by clicking HERE
This year, Scituate High School will implement warning letters, and "Reminder Calls" when students are displaying an increase in absenteeism.
Student Email Domain
The issue however, was that 30% of high school families were unable to turn in their permission slip and therefore, did not have access to their school email account. Please make it a priority this year to either turn your permission slip in with a hard copy or email a digital copy of the slip to Mr. Caparco in Ms. Hart’s office by Friday, September 14th.
If you prefer, digital copies will be accepted through email in PDF form to janice.caparco@scituateschoolsri.net A free app named, Adobe Scan can be easily downloaded on any device to capture a PDF or students can simply take a picture.

Career and Technical Education Update
Scituate High School is proud of the work that has taken place to develop and implement three career and technical education academies (pathways). In July of this year, the Dept. of Education approved Scituate’s fourth CTE Pathway, Entrepreneurship! Students are now enrolled in these amazing courses and are continuing to accomplish career and industry standards to prepare them for the next level of education.
Please help spread the word to surrounding towns. There will be an out-of-district CTE Facebook Live Event on September 13th at 7:00 PM.
Students from out-of-district in grades 9 or 10 can still apply to come to Scituate through October of this year. Please spread the word to surrounding communities!
From our National Honor Society Chapter
There are plenty of National Honor Society members and prospective members who will be looking for service hours this fall.
Thank you for your partnership!
From Our HOSA Club
Members of the high school’s HOSA chapter traveled to Dallas, Texas at the end of June to compete at the International Leadership Conference. Along with educational workshops, displays from colleges, and meeting students from around the United States, students took place in their competitive events. Alexis Surtel, President of the chapter, represented Rhode Island during the flag ceremony during opening session. Rhode Island was recognized with an 83% membership gain. The community awareness team took 7th place internationally out of over 70 teams in their event with their project on “Spreading Awareness on the Effects of High Blood Pressure.” Members of this team included Lauren Malouin, Alexis Surtel, Maud Highfield and Valerie Zammarelli. The health education team, made up of Siena Caledonia, Isabella Palumbo, Eden Palmer and Olivia Santilli, also competed with their project on “Everything to Know about Nutrition.” The HOSA chapter is looking forward to another great year to come.
