A Message from Ms. Lilly
RNE Newsletter October 27th, 2016
The Principal's Office
Dear RNE Family,
It has been a an exciting week at RNE. We have celebrated our Bus Drivers as well as Red Ribbon Week. I think we have all enjoyed the special dress up days! This week, our 3rd grade students completed the IOWA assessment. I am so proud of all of them.
Our literacy consultant, Jen Jones, of Hello Literacy, spent two days at RNE. She spent several hours with our Kindergarten and First grade teams on Wednesday to develop strategies to increase literacy. She also modeled a mini lesson for our teachers. Mrs. Jones has been working with us on perfecting our mini lessons, using higher order thinking skills as well as planning engaging lessons. I am thrilled to announce that Mrs. Jones will conduct a workshop for parents focused on 21st Century Literacy skills on Thursday, November 16. This is one parent workshop you won't want to miss!
Monday, October 31st we will conclude our Red Ribbon Celebration with our storybook character dress up day. Students and staff will dress up as their favorite book character. Our Pre K and Kindergarten students will share their favorite books with the school during the storybook character parade.
It is hard to believe we have such a warm weekend ahead of us! I am already counting the days till the Fall Festival next weekend!
Best,
Maureen
5th grade Girls Night Out is coming..
Girls Night Out is right around the corner and we need your help to make this night fun and exciting for our girls! The teachers and staff are looking forward to celebrating the girls by having a scavenger hunt, working on a craft along with some fun activities throughout the night. In order for all of these things to happen we are asking for donations that can be dropped off on Friday the 11th at 1:30 PM up at school. If your child can carry the donation in to school, please have them give it to their homeroom teacher. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at smjaz@msn.com As always, thank you for everything you do for our kids at RNE! We are really looking forward to a fun night! Thanks Shannon Zdancewicz, Jenny Haley and Kate Scarborough
