Hybrid 2.0 schedule for Monday, January 25, 2021 through Friday, January 29, 2021 - CORRECTED

Big picture

As we have transitioned into the Barrington High School Hybrid 2.0 plan, a significant number of high school students and families have shifted their selection of learning format from hybrid to remote learning. These shifts have created the opportunity to allow students opting into hybrid learning to attend more regularly. To that end, we will begin expanding our hybrid attendance model next week.

Beginning January 25th, seniors that have selected the hybrid learning option are invited to attend in-person learning on all five days next week. Current levels of students choosing in-person learning may allow for the further expansion of in-person learning for the students and families that have selected hybrid learning in the coming weeks. At a minimum, we intend to rotate grade levels weekly. However, initial hybrid attendance indicates that we may be able to accommodate two or more grade levels each week. We will update plans for subsequent weeks next week.

In an effort to safely and quickly enter the building each day, students and staff in all schools will continue using the COVID-19 Symptom Screening app to provide for a healthy environment. The web app allows families and staff to quickly and easily report current COVID-19 symptoms. A web app is a website that functions like an app, but does not require a download from an App Store. All staff, visitors and students entering school buildings should use this web app each day before arriving at school. To access our COVID-19 Symptom Screening web app, visit on any device.

Barrington High School will host it’s 4th annual Skilled Trades Fair virtually this year. The event will be held over two days- February 24th and February 25th. Students will learn about careers and apprenticeships! This year we will have folks from unions and/or organizations representing Automotive, Aviation Technicians, Carpentry, Laborers, Electrical, Pipe Fitters, Plumbing, Heat & Frost, Operating Engineers, and Landscaping. Students can explore diverse career pathways and meet field experts to discover how you can gain the skills they need - for the career they want! Click here for more information and students' ability to sign up! Contact Marie Mirabella with questions. Check out the Career Trek website for other career exploration events.

We recently received notification from The College Board© regarding changes to the National SAT Test.

Effective immediately, SAT is discontinuing subject tests. According to SAT, the tests are no longer necessary for students to show what they know. AP courses provide students with opportunities to showcase their knowledge and skills through college-level coursework.

For students who have previously taken a subject test, colleges will decide whether and how to consider students’ Subject Test scores. Students should check colleges’ websites for the most up-to-date information on their application policies.

Also, effective June 2021, SAT will no longer be offering the optional SAT essay.

For more information, please see The College Board faq page.
