Week of September 7th, 2020

Hello Falcons!

It has been an interesting week to say the least. First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their patience as we had our first positive COVID case in our school. I apologize for sending the community announcement letter late Tuesday evening but I was awaiting more direction from the Archdiocese of Chicago about the next steps and to be assigned a case handler who determined quarantines based on exposure. Also thank you for your patience as this class transitioned to eLearning the following school day. To those parents who have reached out asking specific questions pertaining to our reopening plan, COVID case, and eLearning, I thank you for offering your insight, we as a school community value continuous improvement.

Currently, we are exploring the option of live streaming in our classroom for our eLearners to have a more authentic learning experience. Mrs. Wajrowski, our technology coordinator, and I are testing our access points and bandwidth to see if our internet is capable of live streaming reliably to our eLearners. Please stay tuned as we develop the process for streaming live.

We have had some recent inquiries about travel and the restrictions surrounding travel. At this time, St. Bede School highly discourages families from traveling out of town. We ask that parents are honest with us about travel as we all are responsible for keeping our kids safe. If you are traveling to a hot spot area determined by the CDC/IDPH. Students should remain home for two weeks after traveling to another country or state experiencing significant COVID-19 outbreaks. Students should inform the school immediately if they display COVID-19 symptoms during the two-week period. Please know that this is a shared partnership and we need your support to keep our kids safe. We will be updating our reopening plan to reflect the restrictions. Please click on the links for more information.

COVID-Reminders

Infection Control

Faithful citizenship is key. We expect our families to take personal responsibility for the common good as well as their own safety. We rely on parents to keep children home when they are sick. Sometimes it is hard to tell in the morning if a child is truly ill or just having a hard time waking up. Please err on the side of caution during this time. Children should not come to school if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea

It is important that you contact your doctor and follow the advice of a trained medical professional before returning to school. Please do not administer fever-reducing, cough, or stomach settling medicine and send sick students to school. While it may be an unexpected inconvenience for you in the morning, we believe this is a much better alternative than having to close the entire school because of an outbreak. You are instrumental in helping us to control COVID-19. Please let your employer know of our policy in advance. We need your cooperation now more than ever.

Thank you to those families who were extra cautious this week!! Your support means the world to us!

VIRTUE OF THE MONTH

September: Faith

Romans 1:17 For in it is revealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith; as it is written, “The one who is righteous by faith will live.”

CCC 1814 Faith is the theological virtue by which we believe in God and believe all that he has said and revealed to us, and that Holy Church proposes for our belief because he is truth itself. By faith "man freely commits his entire self to God." For this reason, the believer seeks to know and do God's will. "The righteous shall live by faith." Living faith "work[s] through charity."

FAMILY SERVICE/PRAYER OPPORTUNITY: Work together at home to create a prayer table or prayer corner and take a picture of your family using this prayer space. Send the photo to ksmott@stbedeschool.com and she will post it to our Facebook Page :)!
