Family Engagement Program

Workshops for all Adult Family Members

Family Specialists throughout the district offer a variety of parenting classes to promote healthy families, life skills and essential knowledge classes such as technology, computer literacy, language acquisition, and financial literacy. Workshops are also offered to help promote academic skills to help their children and become academically successful. Go to to view classes offered throughout the district.

Family Engagement Mission Statement

The mission of the North East Family Specialist is to build family engagement between parents, the school, and the community by facilitating, communication; assisting students and families who are experiencing barriers; and, empowering parents to fulfill their role as their child’s first teacher.

NEW! Monthly workshops at NEISD Ferrari Center

In an effort to promote district wide family engagement, we will be offering free monthly workshops at NEISD Ferrari Center, 107 W. Rampart Drive 78216. See below for scheduled workshops. English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for Adults

Family Specialists offer ESL classes at their campuses to aid in the acquisition of the English language with reading, writing, and conversational skills. Classes are offered throughout the school year. Dates and times vary by campus locations. Please go to the classes/workshops tab in our page for details by campus. You must contact the Family Specialist at that campus you would like to attend for details.

Family Specialists offer a variety of resources for Students and Families

Family Specialists have the knowledge and concern for the wide range of social, emotional , cultural, and economic differences among the student's families. HEB Read 3 Mommy and Me Early Literacy Classes

Join us for a 6 week series of early literacy classes where parents will acquire easy to use activities at home to promote literacy. Classes start on December 6th from 1pm-3pm at Walzem Elementary School. You must rsvp with Amanda Yruegas @ 210-407-8425 or

Computer Literacy Classes in Spanish

Join us to learn the basic computer literacy skills such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Google docs and much more. Classes are taught in Spanish every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:45am-11am. First class starts on Dec. 5th at Nimitz Middle School. Participants will learn that life is messy, and our strength, courage, and resilience are tested more often than we would like. Courage and resilience are like muscles--the more you work them, the stronger they become.
