Aledo ISD Closed Monday, May 16
Aledo ISD will be closed on Monday, May 16. The district has applied for a waiver from the Texas Education Agency for the bad-weather days when school was canceled earlier this semester, and, therefore, the AISD does not need to utilize the bad-weather makeup day on Monday, May 16.
We hope you have a safe and enjoyable three-day weekend!
Early Voting for Primary Runoff Elections Begins Monday, May 16
Early voting for the Primary Runoff Elections begins on Monday, May 16. In addition to local Parker County runoff elections, this election includes a runoff for the State Representative for Parker County. Since it’s a runoff election, early voting is only for one week - from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day Monday-Friday, May 16-20 - and Election Day is Tuesday, May 24 (also 7 a.m.-7 p.m.). The Aledo ISD Administration Building is both an early voting and election day site.
It is important to note that there is no requirement that you had to vote in the March Primary Election in order to vote in the Primary Runoff Election. If you voted in the March 1 primary, you can cast your vote only in runoff races for the same party. If you didn’t vote in the March primaries this year, you can choose to vote in either the Democratic or Republican runoffs.
Health Curriculum Review
Aledo ISD, along with districts across the state, is currently reviewing health curriculum for adoption and implementation during the 2022-2023 school year. The Texas Commissioner of Education has provided one state-approved option for the Health I high school credit course. Aledo ISD health instructors have reviewed and endorsed these updated materials, and the AISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) has reviewed, discussed and endorsed them, as well.
The Aledo ISD would like to offer the opportunity for community members to give feedback on the state-approved health curriculum as we complete this process. If you are interested in viewing these materials, please stop by the Aledo ISD Administration Building between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. the week of May 9-13, 2022.

It's P2 OPM Week!
This week in P2 we are celebrating OPM Week or #OtherPeopleMindset week!
What exactly does OPM mean and how can you talk to your student about it? Positive relationships can help people become happier, healthier and more resilient. People who have strong positive relationships do five things consistently (that are the five practices of the Other People Mindset):
- Recognize the good in other people
- Recognize that everything you say or do affects other people
- Support others when they struggle
- Cheer people on when they succeed
- Remain present when giving people your attention.
People who have a strong Other People Mindset are able to build and maintain strong, positive relationships with others.
Ask your student about OPM Week, and then ask them to wrap up all of their P2 lessons for this school year and what their favorite parts were!
