A Message from Superintendent Carmen Ghysels
Dear Parents & Community Members,
We are thrilled to be offering in-person instruction five days per week. These first two weeks have gone extremely well, and it’s great to see so many of our students together again. We miss those in Cohort C and can’t wait until COVID is behind us and we’re all back together. I know it’s hard for parents not to be on campus, and this Google photo album we put together will give you a peek into what schools look like across our district.
When is the last day of school?
Many of you are asking when is the last day of school. Believe it or not, there are only 10 weeks left of school. Our tentative last day of school is Friday, June 18, 2021, based on the number of snow days we’ve had this year. We will announce the last day of school officially on Monday, May 3.
School schedules
We plan to keep our current modified bell schedules through the remainder of this school year and transition back to full days and our original bell schedules beginning on August 31, 2021 - the first day of the 2021-2022 school year.
What about graduations and promotions?
We have been approved to host outdoor graduation and promotion ceremonies this June and will be doing so in compliance with the guidance from CDPH and county health. More information will be coming soon directly from your school. The dates and times are as follows:
North Tahoe High School - June 10, 2021, at 4:00 p.m.
Truckee High School - June 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.
Sierra High School - June 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
North Tahoe School - June 17, 2021, at 4:00 p.m.
Alder Creek Middle School - June 17, 2021, at 6:00 p.m.
Spring break is next week!
Don’t forget - spring break is April 12 - April 16. Please be safe and be sure to follow the latest travel advisories.
Take care,
Carmen Ghysels
