The Embargo act
The Embargo Act of 1807 and the subsequent Nonintercourse Acts were American laws restricting American ships from engaging in foreign trade 1807 and 1812. They led to the War of 1812 between the U.S. and Britain so Thomas Jefferson halted all American Commerce with foreign countries in an effort to harm the economy of Britain and France so they would stop interfering with American shipping.
The Louisiana purchase
The Louisiana purchase doubled the size of the united states, added resources and areas for growth for a young country that needed more for its economy to grow stronger. Plus it gave the United States some of the best farmland in the world, and one of the most important port cities at the time New Orleans and Thomas Jefferson bought a acre for 3 cents.
The Declaration of Independence
One thing that Thomas Jefferson is most famous for is writing the declaration of independence which is famous for its preamble with its first 3 words being "we the people". When Jefferson drafted the declaration of independence, He worked for two and a half weeks in the parlor of his rented rooms in a brick building on Market and Seventh Streets in Philadelphia.
