Causes: Can be inherited, overeating, high amounts of simple carbohydrates, frequently eating large meals, slow metabolism, low physical activity, medications, psychological issues, and diseases.

Foods to include and foods to avoid

Include: Smaller potions, whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans, and other healthy sources of protein, and fresh (whole) fruits and veggies.


Avoid: Sugary drinks, like soda, fruit juice (small amounts), refined grains, potatoes, red and processed meats, and highly processed foods, like fast foods.
