The WAVA Wave
August 1, 2020
A Message from our Principal, Mrs Joanne Warren
Welcome to the New School Year at WAVA HS,
I’m so excited that August is here as that means September is right behind it and we are off and running. There are quite a few changes this year for our students and Learning Coaches to be aware of as we start the year.
1. We are growing significantly, both in students and staff. People have discovered that we offer a great program with amazing staff that care about our students and giving them a successful education. You will see some new faces in your Class Connect sessions. One of the new faces will be our New Assistant Principal Amalia Walle who comes to us from the Tri-Cities in Washington and is a great addition with lots to add.
2. We are really focusing this year on students working at grade level standards and content with layers of support. Class Connect sessions will be 45 minutes long with a 15-minute question and answer period before the next class starts up. Support session will be schedule by teacher to meet the needs of their students. We all know that each of us learns in their own way and need unique support. That is one of the great ways WAVA meets our students’ needs.
3. We know these are unusual time in our society and that is why all of us at WAVA HS are making sure to help you prepare and grow to meet the ever-changing world. As we get closer to the school year start to think about your workspace, your schedule, and what you need to be successful at WAVA. Our goal is that all our students are showing progress and attending CC session at least 80% of the time.
Enjoy the warm month of August and stay tune for more information as the school year gets closer. Thank you for choosing to let us serve you as you look toward the future. Each of you are special and very much welcomed at WAVA.
Sincerely,
Joanne Warren
Principal of WAVA HS
