What events are happening for 'I Love to Read' month?

All Month: Scholastic Book Giveaway

Save all the 400 Club Bookmarks turned in during the month of February. At the end of the month, each classroom will draw one winner who will receive $10 to spend on a Scholastic book order.

All Month: Drop Everything and Read (DEAR)

One day each week will be a “Drop Everything and Read” day. Students will be told during morning announcements if it is a DEAR day. If it is they will need to carry a book with them all day (not lunch/recess). When the announcement is made on the intercom, they will stop whatever they are doing and read for a time determined by their teacher.

Tuesday, February 12: Dress-up Day

Invite your students to come to school dressed as their favorite book character.

Friday, February 15: Barnes and Noble Gift Card Drawing

Sometime before this day, give each of your students one ticket for every bookmark they have turned in. Teachers will bring all of their class tickets to the office and put them in the jar and ten students will be drawn to win a $10 Barnes and Noble gift card. Gift cards will be announced and delivered on Monday, February 18.

Thursday, February 21: Traveling Treasure Box

Teachers will pick two students that will earn a prize from the Treasure Chest.

Tuesday, February 26: Bingo for Books (6:00-7:30)

A fun (and FREE) event for Franklin students and their families. Events will include bingo, popcorn, a book walk, prize wheel, book exchange, make your own bookmarks, photo booth, guessing jar, and much more in the lower gym and auditorium.

Last Week of February: SOAR Prize Box

One of the SOAR prize boxes will be a $25 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble.

How can families help Franklin be a good neighbor?

Drop off and pick up times can be a very busy time at Franklin with buses and families using the streets. This traffic can make it difficult for our neighbors to get in and out of their homes.

Please make sure that when you are driving in the Franklin area, that you do not block our neighbors' driveways, alleys or sidewalks with your vehicle.

Thank you for your help in making Franklin a good neighbor.

Are you ready for the next theme day?

On the February 12 theme day dress as your favorite book character for I Love to Read month! This theme was selected by the Reading Committee.

How can you learn about weather cancellations?
