Our Mission
Letter from our Executive Director, Rebecca Limbaugh
We know you have a lot of choices when it comes to who you'd like to support, and we are so grateful that you chose Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit. We promise to continue to provide quality services to our scholars and be responsible with your donation and your trust. We have a lot of work to do, and your donations help us get that important work done! Your support help keep the lights on, a roof overhead and food on the table for the scholars in our Hope House. College tours, transportation and wrap-around services to our academy scholars and care packages to our collegians. This makes all the difference for youth who are struggling to be successful in life.
A special "Thank You" to Dan Laible for over a decade of service to BHGH as a Board Member and dedicated, unwavering support as our Board Chair. Even though you have stepped down in this role we are blessed that you will remain a member of our Executive Board. Your wisdom, knowledge and experience are invaluable to us.
Congratulations and a warm welcome to our newly elected Board Chair, Mark Hebert - Thank you for continuing this journey with us. We look forward to new beginnings and a successful future.
With Sincere Gratitude,
Rebecca Limbaugh
Featured Team Member and Scholar
Meet Marie Merchant, Academic and Community Coordinator
Marie Merchant joined the team in 2017 as a Site Coordinator for Loyola High School, but quickly became loved by all scholars, especially in the Hope House when she came for study time and academic support. In 2019 she was promoted to Scholars Support Counselor and co-facilitated Academy Program for all Scholars.
Last year, Ms. Marie was promoted again to Residential Academic Coordinator and Community Outreach Specialist; shining in every program and providing support for Academy, Residential, and Collegians and networking with our community partners. Marie is passionate about connecting Scholars to their community and teaching them how to utilize their resources. We look forward to having her on our team for many more years to come.
Welcome Nayla Jones, New Hope House Scholar
Miss Nayla Jones moved into Hope House this month and we are proud to feature her as the Scholar of the Month! Nayla is a 7th grader at Bunche Academy and her hobbies including participating with robotics, basketball, music, and academic games.
When asked what she was looking forward to most in the program, Nayla said, "I'm looking forward to hanging out with people closer to my age and meeting new people, and all of the activities we have planned."
Nayla has also been enjoying living in the Hope House. "My favorite part of the house is the reflection room. I can take some time for myself and no one will bother me in there.
Nayla brings a fresh energy and bright light to the program and always has her peers and the staff laughing. We welcome Nayla and thank her family for allowing us to partner with them at BHGH Detroit.
