"Images of Southern Italy" Presentation by Angela Possemato

Please join us in celebrating the opening reception of photographer Angela Possemato's exhibit, "Images of Southern Italy." Her evocative photos capture the character of three of Italy's southern regions: Puglia, Basilicata, and Campania. Follow in her journey to find her family's roots in Benevento, to explore the mysterious and magical city of Matera, and to wander among the sun-baked trulli of Alberobello. Refreshments will be served.

Il Postino (The Postman), Radford, 1994

The touching story of a simple postman, Mario (Massimo Troisi), who learns to express his complicated emotions after a famous Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda (Philippe Noiret), arrives on his small Mediterranean island and ends up by chance on his mail route. This chance encounter helps the previously melancholic Mario to appreciate the beauty of his surroundings, express his love for Beatrice (Maria Grazia Cucinotta), who works at the local bar, and become more politically active and fight for the rights of the people of his island.

This film was the beloved Troisi's last, as he passed before it's release.
