Hello Franklin Students and Families,
WELCOME BACK! While this is not the way we thought our school year would begin, teachers are working hard on providing all of our students with high quality instruction that will continue to serve our community. I am confident that together we will get through this! Our teachers are excited to get all students logged in to their virtual classrooms. This year, we plan to continue to engage students in growing academically, socially, and emotionally. Our goal is to meet students where they are and provide them with the resources and tools that they need to be successful in school and beyond.
In order to ensure open communication, please make sure that your ParentVue is activated and that you are receiving school and district messages via School Messenger. There are instructions for ParentVue/School Messenger on our school website and in this community newsletter. Parents/Guardians can view your student’s information, teachers and/or class schedule in ParentVue.
In addition to that, Long Beach Unified has adopted a new Learning Management System, CANVAS. Canvas is the Learning Management System that LBUSD will be using district wide to facilitate and support online teaching and learning. It allows teachers to post grades, information, and assignments online. It is being used by schools and colleges all over the world. Canvas provides the tools to support online learning in a variety of ways. There is a short video for parents/guardians and login in instructions for students in the community newsletter. Once students are logged in, parents will be able to access and communicate with teachers via CANVAS email.
Over 1000 Franklin families participated in the three days of Textbook Distribution by grade levels and we THANK YOU!! It was wonderful to see your masked faces! We will continue to check out books to students during the lunch hour now that school has begun. Remember that the first two weeks are all minimum days. We've attached bell schedules below; we will do our best to provide resources that support our community of learners.

¡BIENVENIDOS! Yo se que esta no es la forma que esperabamos para el comienzo de nuestro año escolar, los maestros están trabajando arduamente para brindar a todos nuestros estudiantes una instrucción de alta calidad que continuará sirviendo a nuestra comunidad. ¡Estoy seguro de que juntos superaremos esto! Nuestros maestros están emocionados de conozer a todos los estudiantes y que inicien sus aulas virtuales por CANVAS. Este año, planeamos continuar involucrando a los estudiantes en su crecimiento académico, social y emocional. Nuestro objetivo es encontrar a los estudiantes donde están y brindarles los recursos y herramientas que necesitan para tener éxito en la escuela y su futuro.

Más de 1000 familias de Franklin participaron en los tres días de distribución de libros de texto por grados y ¡¡GRACIAS !! ¡Fue maravilloso ver sus rostros enmascarados! Continuaremos prestando libros a los estudiantes durante la hora del almuerzo ahora que la escuela ha comenzado. Recuerde que las dos primeras semanas son todos días mínimos. Hemos adjuntado horarios de timbre a continuación; (1-11 de septiembre, 2:00 son días mínimos). Haremos todo lo posible para proporcionar recursos que apoyen a nuestra comunidad de estudiantes.
