Grace & Courtesy Emphasis

Throughout the school year, Ellis has a school-wide focus on specific positive character traits. Each teacher may choose to highlight these "Grace & Courtesy" emphases differently, but as a school we follow a general common curriculum.

From October 11th-October 28th, our school-wide Grace & Courtesy emphasis is RESPECT.

The language for identifying/naming RESPECT in "The Self-Awakened Child" series by Jonathan Wolff

  • When I listen to what other people say and do not ignore them or interrupt them when they are talking, I am listening with Respect.
  • When I remember to think about other people's feelings before I act or talk, I am acting with Respect for others.
  • When I take good care of the things that belong to others, I am Respecting other people's things.
  • When I take good care of myself, my feelings, and my things, I am acting with Self-Respect.
  • When I treat people the way I like to be treated, I am acting with Respect for others.

Books Now Available!

We now have a limited number of copies of "Positive Discipline in the Montessori Classroom," available for families to borrow through the Ellis Media Center. Requests to borrow a book will be on a first come, first served basis.

This book is what the entire Ellis staff is studying together throughout this school year and what the family engagement team is using as a basis for their discussions during their monthly Saturday morning meetings.

If you are interested in borrowing a copy of this book, contact Ms. Lisa (lisa.odonnell@sccpss.com) and provide her with your name, your student's name, phone number, and email address. She will set up a community account for you, check out a book to you, and send the book home with your student.

Lost & Found

If your student is missing something, please encourage them to visit the Lost & Found located on the ramp in the MPR hallway or email your student's teacher so they can assist your student, if needed.

The 2022-2023 BOOK IT! reading program will begin October 1st for all interested Pre-K through 6th grade students. Visit the BOOK IT! page of the Ellis website for more information including how to sign your student(s) up to participate.
