The Progressive Presidents
A Comparison
Theodore Roosevelt
Report Card
Leadership
A+
Roosevelt was powerful and courageous man. He was the man of leadership. Many people called him a hero because he brought the white house back in business. He was always there for people and he got did what he was suppose to and more. He wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty and work things out. A ton of people looked up to him and thought he was the best and knew he really cared about everyone. He broke up some trust and made people work less and in better conditions for higher pay. He was a very good leader.
Organization
B
Theodore Roosevelt was an semi-organized guy. He was the type of guy that planned things out but also went with the flow of things when he had to. He planned many of his deals and many of his associations but when it came to the time where he had to make a decision he thought about it and gave them the answer. But majority of the time he had a plan of how it was going to be done. Most of his deals he thought of for a long time it didn't just happen. For somethings he thought about it for a second and did it. This is why I gave him a B instead of an A.
Professionalism
B
Roosevelt was the type of guy that joked around when it was allowed but very serious when he had to be. He joked around and had fun while he wasn't worrying about anything but when it came to law making and things like this he sat down and go serious. Some things he was serious was about the Square Deal and also Foreign policies. He made sure things got done and was professional about it but when he was relaxing he joked around and just had fun. I gave him a B because he was professional for the most part but he use to joke around a lot.
Contributions
B+
Theodore Roosevelt was a good thinker and had many ideas. One of his ideas was the Square Deal which was important because it was the three c's. One was conservation of natural resources, next was control of corporations, the last was consumer protection. He also had a foreign policy. His quote was "speak softly and carry a big stick" which made him powerful and scary like. Also with this policy different things occurred. One of the things were Germany and Britain blockaded Venezuela's coastal line and Roosevelt stepped in and said that they settle there dispute some other way. Then another thing occurred with Latin America and Europeans that have loaned Latin America money. Roosevelt also stepped in to avoid European military action he sent an American collector to collect duties. Also the Panama Canal was built for the sum of $10 million dollars or $250,000 each year. The next thing was he took care of the environmental and cared for everything in nature because he was an outdoor guy who loved to fish and just be outdoors so he had environmental concerns which he eventually fixed most of.The last thing I will talk about is Roosevelt regulating businesses. They didn't do much with it but in J.P. Morgans case they broke up his monopoly because it violated the Sherman's Antitrust act.
William Howard Taft
Taft was the 27th president of the United States. He was a good man, he grew up in a house where everyone was a lawyer or was a politician like his ancestors. His dream was to sit on Supreme Court which he achieved after his term as a president. He was the only person to be both president and sit on Supreme Court. During presidency he made the "dollar diplomacy" and he also busted trusted up. Also during presidency he gained more than 100 pounds for one term because of all the stress and because he didn't want to be president but was forced by his wife and Theodore Roosevelt.
Report Card
Leadership
D
I gave Taft a D for leadership because he didn't care to be president. Many people didn't look up to him because he didn't care for his job and many people noticed it so they gave up on him. He also didn't really enjoy doing it that is why he gained 100 pounds in one term because of stress. Some people looked up to him but it was very little. This is why I gave him a D.
Organization
C
I gave Taft a C for organization because he wasn't that well organized. For somethings he was but mainly he didn't care for it so he just left it wherever. For certain things he would keep organized because it was important and it needed to be done. This is why I gave Taft a C for Organization.
Professionalism
D
I gave Taft a D for professionalism because he wasn't very professional. Since he didn't want to be president he wasn't the most professional president. But on occasions he was professional because it was his job and he had to care. He was professional towards laws and deals. This is why I gave Taft a D for professionalism.
Contributions
B
I gave him a B because he had a lot of good ideas. One of the ideas was dollar diplomacy which gave loans to people who needed them.
