CES Newsletter | Week of February 14, 2022
Message from the Principal
I think this was our first 5 day week since we returned from winter break! Students enjoyed a fun-filled week with our Student Council Candy Gram Sale and Valentines Day parties! Thank you to our adult volunteers for making these parties possible.
A BIG THANK YOU to all of our families who participated in parent-teacher conferences. This is such a valuable opportunity for our families and staff to collaborate to best support our students. We would also like to thank our amazing PTA for providing meals on these evenings for staff. We greatly appreciate it!
Make sure to mark February 16th on your calendar for our Raising Cane's Dine to Donate! See the flier below for more details! This week's newsletter includes important information and upcoming dates to place on your calendars.

No school friday, february 18 - asynchronous learning for students
Students will not physically attend school on Friday, February 18 due to staff professional development. Students will participate in asynchronous learning opportunities from home on this day. We are so excited to provide students with engaging learning opportunities to explore. Please see expectations for student learning below.
Student / Parent Expectations.
Students should engage in as many of the Explore Board activities and experiences as they can based on what sparks their interest.
Students must complete at least one (1) Explore Board experience.
On Tuesday (2/22), students will engage in a reflection activity in class based on their Explore Board activity selection(s). Again, this reflection will be done at school, not at home.
Students do not need to bring in evidence of completion of their work on the Explore Boards to school.
If parents would like to share a picture / post of their child’s work on the Explore Board activities on social media, they can use the #SCSExplores hashtag.

STAND UP IN STRONGSVILLE LLS Fundraiser
Strongsville Families,
I am beyond excited to announce that Strongsville is participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS), “Students of the Year” campaign for 2022. I was nominated to lead this challenge by my high school Athletic Director and the Principal of my high school. I feel honored and so grateful to be a part of this amazing fundraising experience with LLS! I have put together a team of support to help raise money and awareness for this great cause – to bring an end to cancer!
Our Team name is “Stand Up In Strongsville”. Student of the Year program is a 7 week challenge between other high school students in surrounding cities in Northern Ohio to raise the most amount of money for a great cause – Finding a cure for cancer! Our competition ends on March 19th, 2022. During this 7 week challenge, my team and I are determined to reach our goal of $60,000 and raise even more! (All donations are tax deductible! Tax ID #13-5644915). Please help us reach our team goal of $60,000 and fight with us against cancer!

WHEN SHOULD YOU KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME FROM SCHOOL?
PLEASE DO YOUR PART. IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT FEELING WELL, KEEP THEM HOME and CONTACT THE SCHOOL.
In order to do your part in preventing the spread of germs, it is imperative that we are frequently doing symptom checks of our children at home. If your child is displaying any of the following symptoms, please keep them home and inform our front office. We will work to ensure that your child stays up to date with assignments and the teaching taking place in the classroom:
- A fever of 100 degrees or higher. This is one of the strongest Covid Symptoms
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
- Persistent cough or runny nose
- Loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
We need you to assist in helping us, by monitoring for these symptoms on a daily basis, and keeping your child home if they aren't feeling well.
