Welcoming 2021 with OPEN ARMS!
It is my practice to choose a word each year to focus on rather than a new year's resolution. A word is easier to remember and be mindful of as I go throughout my day or week.
Here are 3 questions to ask yourself as you try to find the right word for your new year. Some families even like to choose a word that they all can work on together. Reflecting on 2020,
1) Did my actions align with my beliefs?
2) Did I carry out my intentions?
3) Was I committed?
My word for 2021 is PURPOSE. I love the quote that finding your purpose is a lifelong adventure. It means that everything I do, I do with purpose and I ask before I commit what will the purpose be for this activity, event, or challenge. Living life with purpose ensures that every moment makes a difference even if that moment is a quiet moment to take deep breaths.
Distance Learning Continues
The good news is we only have 4 more days of Distance Learning! Monday, January 4, 2021 is a Staff Development Day. Students will resume instruction on Tuesday, January 5th in Distance Learning mode. Friday, January 8th will be our last Day of Distance Learning.
In-person instruction begins on Monday, January 11th
We will continue to follow all safety protocols.
Masks-Everyone wears masks while entering and leaving the campus. Adults and 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will wear masks while in class. Masks are not required at recess or lunch.
Cohorts- Students remain in their cohorts throughout the day, during recess and at lunch. This ensures we minimize contact while maximizing our spaces.
Handwashing routines-we continue to wash hands regularly when we enter classrooms and sanitize before leaving for recess and lunch.
We will continue with our 10-day exclusions for any student or staff member experiencing symptoms, but you can return to campus prior to the 10 days with a negative Covid test or a doctor's note. One new health protocol is district-wide surveillance testing for all staff. We will be testing staff regularly in order to continue to protect the Lassen View community.
We know that in-person instruction provides the best opportunity for academic growth as well as social-emotional learning. It is our hope that together we can practice our health and safety protocols to maintain this learning environment to the benefit of all in the Lassen View community.

One Word for Kids
A Word from our Counselor Jen Wilson
Hi there Lassen View Families,
I hope you all had a very happy holiday season. Putting 2020 in the past, I hope everyone has had a time to reflect on the positive experiences that the year had to offer. There has been a lot of chaos and uncertainty but there has also been some good to focus on. Babies were born, homes were purchased, cars were bought, families spent more quality time together and people persevered. It was a struggle for everyone and I think we can all agree that we are anxious to see what the new year holds for us. New Years day represents many things, one is the fresh start and new beginning. Resolutions were made and people are hopeful for a brighter 2021. Below are some strategies to keep you on track. I am here for you so please reach out to me if you need anything.
Sincerely,
Jen Wilson
