Principal's Corner
Wow! It’s hard to believe it is October already. We have finished our fall testing. You should receive those results from your child’s teacher soon. Our teachers use this information to guide their instruction and ensure your child is getting exactly what he/she needs to be successful this school year.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be virtual this fall. You should have received an invitation to sign up for a time to ZOOM with your child’s teacher. Conferences will take place on October 6 & October 8 from 4-8pm.
With October comes cooler weather. Please make sure your child has what they need to be comfortable outside during recess. This time of year, the temperature changes throughout the day but sometimes a light jacket or sweatshirt is still necessary during recess.
I know this school year looks very different, but we appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue to focus on educating your child in a very unique way. Thank you for being our partner in helping educate your child while they are at home during their remote learning days. You are doing a GREAT JOB and we appreciate you!
Your partner in education,
Ms. Christina Johnson- Principal

A Note About Music
Hello from Music! This year looks a little different because music is on a cart with the children in their classrooms. We are not singing, but we are still humming and learning! Music is only 25 minutes long so that all students at Steeby can have music once a week.
In 2nd grade we have reviewed music symbols we learned in 1st grade. We started learning about pitches - so and mi in music and have been reviewing those. We also have been learning about dynamics in music (loud/soft) and the different words associated with those. I have gotten almost everyone on the 2nd Grade Music Google Classroom. Here is the code if your child is not on it: dyfmi3m
In 3rd grade we have reviewed music symbols we already knew. We also have been learning about dynamics in music (loud/soft) and the different words associated with those. This past week we have learned a new music note - watermelon - that has 4 sounds on a beat. I have gotten almost everyone on the 3rd Grade Music Google Classroom. Here is the code if your child is not on it: 35zw7ka
Please make sure that your child is on the Music Google Classroom. From time to time I will post fun things on there for the students to do at home.

Halloween Parties
Group A- October 27 & Group B- October 29
Your child’s Halloween Party will look different this year. Students will celebrate in their classroom, and we will not parade through the building. We are unable to have visitors at this time, so parents will not be able to attend the party. Students may wear their costumes to school. We will not have children change into them during the school day. Our costume rules still apply: no blood, weapons, or full face masks. Treats must be pre-packaged, store bought items to share with the class.
Keep an eye out for more information coming from your child’s teacher.
