4 Methods for Medicinal Intake: Have Some Questions for Your Food
It has been said and understood that our food should be our medicine and our medicine our food. We do indeed become a sum total of what we consume (that also applies to our thought life - from stinkin' thinkin' to thriving altitudes). Let's take a quick look at 4 methods that help fight off the bad stuff (carcinogens, risk factors for heart disease, inflammation, LDL cholesterol, free radicals, fat storage, etc.).
- Focus on categories instead of calories. Even if you are consuming the correct amount of calories per day, that doesn't mean they are coming from the best sources. Make your calories count instead of concentrating on counting your calories. Five solid categories to focus on include: water, fruits, veggies, lean proteins and whole grains. Think of your calories as little soldiers that you are putting in your system to fight for you. Eating unclean places a weak army in your body. The greatest fight for your health begins at the cellular level. Eat clean and feed yourself with the best artillery! Build your own internal defense system!
- Focus on one meal at a time. Let's not get too overwhelmed with our food choices. It can be a daunting task thinking about meal planning and creating the right combinations. So, let's take it one meal at a time. Tupperware is a good thing and pre-planning is great! However, the important thing to note is to put your mind to the plate that's in front of you. What is on it and what does it consist of? Practice being in the present. Your current concentration will provide lifestyle awareness for you. Over the long haul you will be able to haul less :) You change your physique and eating habits one meal at a time. Get a side of small victories.
- Have questions for your food. Talk about food for thought! Many associates around here are masters at interviewing. Now let's get savvy at interviewing our food! Ask your food, "Are you are going to help or hurt?" You may not want to do this out loud, but hey, no one will judge you.
- "What have you done for me lately?"
- "How are you going to affect me?"
- "What can you bring to my table?"
- "How natural are you?"
- "Will you give me energy?"
- "Am I going to regret eating or drinking you?"
- "Do we need to break up? We need to see other plates- just sayin'".
- "How am I going to feel an hour after we hang out", etc.
