News from Mr. Papes
Alto Families,
Thank you for your efforts to attend virtual or phone Parent/Teacher Conferences this past week. The feedback I have received from our teachers has been very positive. Your communication and collaboration with your child’s teacher is critical in supporting your child’s education. Research shows that students learn more and have more success in the classroom when parents are involved in their child’s education. Thank you for your continued partnership and support!
Virtual Families
A survey was emailed out last Friday about your learning plans for the 2nd trimester (2nd trimester starts November 23rd). Please complete this survey as soon as possible so we can start planning for any students that plan to return to face-to-face learning. If you need access to this survey please email me at ppapes@lowellschools.com. This survey is due by October 23.
Face-To-Face Families
If your family is considering changing to virtual school for the second trimester, you must contact me before the end of the day on Friday, October 23.
COVID Protocols

Please note on the page 21 flowchart that if your child exhibits two of the following (fever, chills, headache, extreme tiredness/fatigue, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, body aches, nausea/vomiting or diarrhea, shortness of breath) or one of the following (new cough, loss of taste or smell), a healthcare evaluation is indicated. This may result in a clear alternative diagnosis or a COVID-19 test may be indicated. Please note that all household members should stay home until test results or healthcare evaluation results are back.
We have had another wonderful week at Alto Elementary. Your kids are awesome! They continue to display positive attitudes, an eagerness to learn, and the character traits of Alto All STARS (Safe, Thoughtful, Accountable, Respectful). Please be sure to share with them how proud we all are of them.
Enjoy the weekend!
With Care,
Paul Papes

Great news for students and families!
The USDA has extended the waiver for free breakfast and lunch for all students through the end of the school year! We still ask that families fill out free/reduced school lunch application. Although all school lunches are free this year, your benefits will roll over 30 days into the next school year. This information is also used for school funding allocation, and if renewed, potential P-EBD card benefits. You can apply at Lunchapp.com
