Lost and Found

Folllowing the exciting double overtime victory on Saturday at Aquin by the boys basketball team, there was some jacket confusion.
  • FOUND: 1 adult small royal blue and black Timberland jacket
  • LOST: 1 youth large gray and navy Nike winter coat

If you have information on either of these items, please contact laura.diemer@aquinschools.org.

Thanks and Congrats

Over the past 2 weekends, Aquin hosted the 49th Annual 7th Grade Boys Basketball Tournament at our St. Joseph Campus. The championship game featured 2 teams from Sterling Newman with Newman #1 taking the honors of 'champion'. There was also a 3-point shoot-out that culminated with finals on Saturday. Braedon Fyock of Forreston claimed the 3-point champion title by making 10 of 15 in 1 minute. Aquin's Graysen DeMichele took 2nd place by making 9. Photos from Saturday can be found at www.aquin.smugmug.com.

A 'HUGE' thank you to tourney coordinator Darin Stykel who went above and beyond the call of duty in his volunteer role. Thanks also to Sarah DeMichele, Dawn Carlson and Jess Stykel for heading up the concession stand over the 5 days of the tournament. And finally, thanks to all the parent and student volunteers who kept the floors clean, showed the teams to their locker rooms, refereed the games, ran the clock, kept the book, staffed the gate, concessions and 50/50 raffle.

Due to the efforts of all involved, $2700 was made for the Aquin Junior High sports program. As this program is entirely self-sufficient (no funds are given to the program from the school), these efforts are greatly, greatly appreciated.

Can't wait for the 50th in 2015!

Catholic Schools Week starts January 26

The kick-off to this week-long celebration begins on Sunday. For the past 5 years we've opened the week with the Crosstown Classic. This year, in honor of the Olympics, we are hosting the Stephenson County Winter Olympics. We are in need of 10-person teams of any age and any combination. Family teams, business teams, town teams, alumni teams--all are welcome. The events will all be held indoors and are all fun versions of actual Olympic events. Local food vendors will set-up in the cafeteria from 11:00am-1:30pm. Check out the complete info on the event at www.aquinschools.org/2014olympics.cfm.

Stay tuned for all the fun activities throughout the week. The much-anticipated 'Big Dawg/Little Dawg Day' will be held at the high school on Tuesday, January 28, following the All-System Mass at St. Joe's Church.

All of their toys and belongings upstairs were damaged in the fire--including beds and bedding. They are also looking for a stove and refrigerator as the apartment they may be moving into does not have these items.

The Red Cross and FACC has also been helping the family. Thank you so much for any help you can offer!
