Proctor Patriots
School Newsletter, Edition III, October 8, 2018
Falling into October!
I'd like to begin by thanking all the families who were able to meet with your child's teacher this last week for parent/teacher conferences. You should have had the opportunity to discuss your child's academic progress, ask questions, and receive resources to support your child's learning at home. Partnering together to provide your child with a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality educational experience truly makes a difference in the success in their learning.
Now that we are almost two months into the school year, I have enjoyed watching our students flourish each day as they are challenged to think and apply their knowledge into their conversations, writings, and discoveries. I am marveling at the growth of our students as they become more responsible and sure of themselves. We are always finding new and supportive ways through our PBIS program, of making sure our students feel supported, connected, and safe at Proctor School. Please look for ways you can get involved to be a part of this amazing community of learning!
I would like to acknowledge and thank all our teachers and staff for their dedication as we bring the elements of the Common Core Standards into instruction and learning, supporting students through a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), providing high levels of learning for all students. ALL means ALL! I also would like to acknowledge our parents who give to our community in so many ways to make sure that each day counts. Thank you so much parents for all you do for our school community!
The Proctor Newsletter is used to communicate important events, information, and opportunities to all families. To keep up-to-date and ensure your child is able to take advantage of district and school resources. My goal is to send out approximately two newsletters a month so that you have the most current information about all the happenings at Proctor, so please keep reading below.

Halloween Costume Parade
Halloween is right around the corner. We will be hosting our annual Halloween Costume Parade, on Wednesday, October 31st, from 8:15 - 9:15. You may remain on campus to view the parade without checking into the office. Once the parade is over, and you will be staying on campus to volunteer, or take part in classroom festivities, please visit the office to sign-in, and for a volunteer sticker.
As you plan for this day, families may want to know what is acceptable for costumes to make this a positive and fun environment for all. We ask for your support in helping students to comply with these rules.
- Costumes must comply with the school dress codes, be age-appropriate (no R-rated themes) and be respectful to others
- No blood or gore
- No full-face masks
- Students' costumes may not include pretend weapons and/or explosives. Toy guns, swords, knives, or martial arts weapons, etc., are not allowed and will be confiscated if brought to school.
- We are also asking for your cooperation in NOT allowing your children to dress up as clowns due to the possible disruption and fear it may cause. If anyone shows up with a clown-related costume, they will be asked to change
- Please help your student select costumes that support our efforts to provide a positive and fun environment.
We Did it!! Thank you Proctor Families!
Proctor Families,
A huge "THANK YOU" to the parent volunteers last Friday there for morning set up, lap marking, water station attendance and cleanup for the Walkathon. We had 350 students participate and the weather could not have been more perfect along with DJ Devin. It is the parent involvement that make our school a great place for our kids.
We have officially hit our school fundraising goal of $40,0000! Ms. Ghereben has already served our students during lunch when we hit $20K AND Mr. Silzle has "clucked" around in the chicken suit at $30K. Now the front office staff will be doing the chicken dance in front of the entire school! Let's not forget most laps walked per grade and top 3 fundraisers get to silly string the Principal.
We will be announcing our final stats for this fundraiser during a our Flag Assembly this week!
Again, from the Walkathon Team and Proctor PTA, we deeply appreciate your continued support to make Proctor Elementary the best it can be.
This Friday, October 12th!
Hope to see you there!
October 25th
The agenda will be posted in the window of the school office, and our website, once the new one is up and running.
