Fox Features Weekly Update
Summer Edition - July 2019
A Message from the Principal
New and Returning Foxes, Parents, and Guardians,
I hope that you all have been enjoying the summer and have had an opportunity to read a great book or visit a new or exciting place. Believe it or not, in just a few weeks we'll be back in the habit of teaching and learning. In the meantime, be sure to do something memorable with friends and family before you return to school on August 21st. This upcoming school year will be filled with many new opportunities and experiences and I look forward to sharing them with you.
The time spent in middle school can be such an exciting time in a young person's life. It is important, as well as encouraged, to strive for academic success while exploring the variety of extracurricular activities and athletics that we have to offer. The opportunities available to you as middle school students are likely to open the door to many new friendships and will help you to become a more well-rounded individual.
I am dedicated to ensuring that the DFMS faculty and staff will work hard to make sure that you have a successful and positive middle school experience. Remember, my door is always open to students, parents/guardians, and community members. Feel free to reach out to me anytime you have a question or concern. I can be reached by email at vlsava@lexrich5.org, or by phone at 476-4800. This will be an exciting year, and I look forward to seeing you all at Schedule Pickup on August 5th.
Fox Pride,
Vernon Sava
Principal

SIC Nominations and Elections
Parental involvement is essential for a school to be successful. At Dutch Fork Middle we really depend on the support of our parents. Parents must be involved in decision-making, too. One of the ways you can be part of the decision-making is by serving on the School Improvement Council (SIC).
The School Improvement Council is an elected body that meets monthly at the school. This SIC consists of elected parents, teachers, and students.
Nominations for three (3) parent representatives on the Dutch Fork Middle School Improvement Council are now open. Nominations will be accepted through Tuesday, July 30th at 4:30.
An election to elect three (3) parent representatives will be conducted on August 5th during schedule pickup.
A nomination form is attached below. We hope you’ll consider running for this important position at our school.
Lunch Information
All Free and Reduced Lunch applications must be completed online at www.lunchapplication.com.
