What is AVID?
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college readiness program that ensures students are college-ready by equipping them with skills, academic behaviors, and college knowledge necessary to succeed at every level from elementary school to college. AVID helps develop a vision for their future, gain confidence in their abilities, and take ownership of their learning.
AVID Mission Statement
AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. AVID is a college readiness system designed to increase the number of students who enroll in four-year colleges.
PHHS AVID Program Requirements
- Maintain satisfactory citizenship and behavior in all classes.
- Maintain 90% attendance with no Loss of Credit in any classes.
- Maintain the AVID Keystones as set by the Pebble Hills AVID program.
- Maintain an average GPA of 2.0 or higher in all classes.
- Maintain commitment to higher level courses. (at least one per academic year)
- Complete at least 25 hours of Community Service per academic school year. *Due to COVID19; expectations/guidelines for hours might be adjusted*
