A MESSAGE FROM MRS. LUNA
Hello Hilltop families,
It's been an unheard of end to 2022 and start to the 2023 school year....early out, snow day, and late starts. Even though this winter has been a little crazy as far as weather, the students have been troopers. I think we have wrapped up our celebrating and are ready to have a full week of school next week. We will be starting our FastBridge math and reading assessments next week. This assessment replaces the NWEAs that our district has taken for years to show progress throughout the year and year-by-year.
Our Giant Buddies will meet again on Wednesday next week. Hilltop students will do making vision boards and playing games with their Giant Buddies.
Our VIP/Grandparents' Day is on Thursday, February 16th. 8:45 A.M. We will be doing our Pioneer Day performance and then some stations in the classroom. For those of you unfamiliar with our Pioneer Days, the kids dress like pioneers, do some dancing and singing. It is a fun time! They work on this during gym and music. This year they are also incorporating pioneer activities and learning into media and art! We will be making a trip to the Treaty Site in St. Peter in two weeks.
You will be receiving a fundraiser packet called School Store. This is being done through PTO to support our new playground. The great thing about this fundraiser is that you don't have to purchase anything or collect money. You just need to share a link with friends and family. They can shop through this link at vendors they know and trust (Walmart, Sam's, Kohls, etc.). Those stores in turn will turn around and give us a percent of the purchase. Just for signing up (directions are on the packet) students will get an adorable safari "hugger". Mine is shown below.
Enjoy the weekend!
Mrs. Christa Luna
