Introduction
Can poems really mean something? Yes.
For my two poems I will be comparing "Sleeping in the Forest" and "Problems with Hurricanes.I will be comparing tone, word choice, figurative language, form and structure.Tone and Word Choice
The tone for "Sleeping in the Forest" is calming and relaxing in lines 11-14 and in "Problems with Hurricanes" the tone is caring and humors in lines 12-13 and line 14. The word choice in the first poem makes the poem feel relaxing in lines 5-7 and in the second poem it makes the poem feel respectful in lines 14.
Figurative Language
The figurative language in the first poem is personification because, when she said the Earth took her back in lines 2.For the second poem the figurative language is imagery because it talks about fruit flying at high speed in lines 9-13.The picture that they both paint in my mind is about how nature looks and how it acts. They both make the reader think more and paint good pictures in your mind.
Form and Structure
In the first poem there are weird spaces and the poem looks like a snowman, the effect of the poem is that it is calm but, the meaning is sad.The second poem has no weird spaces in all the lines, looks normal and the effect is that when you die you want to die honorable in line 14.
Conclusion
For the first poem I think the main point is dieing is bad but, it can be beautiful and calm, the theme is living and dieing and the poem is shaped out.In the second poem the main point is that pretty things can be deadly, the effect of the poem is that it is respectful and not silly, I think the theme is that pretty things can hurt you.The author's
style in this poem is that nature can be good or bad.
