Happy Return to School
It brings me joy to hear that the American Heritage Tour was a tremendous success this year. The SMS Staff took on a monumental responsibility of arranging the entire trip independently to cut down on expenses for families. I extend my gratitude to all those involved and express my appreciation to our families for their participation.
As we move forward, we have a packed schedule for the next couple of months. The SAS assessment is right around the corner, and it's a crucial summative evaluation. Please keep a keen eye on the calendar as we have a host of significant dates approaching.

Mr. Dunning Visits 8th Grade Social Studies
"On April 12th, ConVal School Board member and Vietnam Veteran Dick Dunning – who is also a Civil War Reenactor – visited David Allen’s Social Studies class to provide some unique insights into the daily life of a Union soldier. The artifacts, history and enthusiasm that he brought to the students was truly impactful as was evident from the recap of his visit later in the week. The eighth grade headed off on the AHT and to Gettysburg with a firmer grasp of the realities that took place there thanks to Mr. Dunning."

Summer Learning Opportunity
Good Afternoon,
It is time to register your child for Summer Learning. Please use the following link to sign your child(dren) up by April 7th. An early registration will ensure that we have the staff and resources to host a robust summer learning program.
Explore and Expand and Summer Academy will begin on July 5th and run through July 27th. The programs are either 3 or 4 mornings a week depending on the grade of your child(dren). A more detailed description of summer learning opportunities can be found in the registration form.
Similar to last year, all summer programming is free including transportation and lunch. Please note that we are working to increase the number of buses so that there are additional common pick-up and drop-off locations for students. We will work closely with town summer Recreation Programs to coordinate so that children may participate in both rec. programming as well as ConVal summer learning.
Please reach out with any questions!
Best,
Amy Janoch
